It's refreshing to see a film so raw and brutally realistic as Wasp. There is no Hollywood glamour in this. The lives of poor and working people in England are presented with their flaws on full display. The acting and the story are fantastic, but it's the quick cuts and close-ups that make it feel visceral. There are times when the direction seems to be headed towards something so terrible that it would be nausea inducing, but it never goes too far. Wasp finds a sweet spot between the mundanity of life and its uncomfortable truths. A powerful film.

A raw and powerful short film about a young woman struggling against responsibility and economic reality. The sequence the title refers to is particularly harrowing. Now I have to seek out "Fish Tank".
