Weirdsville Reviews
When a pair of stoners (Scott Speedman, Wes Bentley) decide to bury the body of a friend (Taryn Manning) who has overdosed in the basement of an abandoned drive-in theater, they interrupt a group of Satan worshippers in the midst of a human sacrifice. From there, things get weird. Welcome to Weirdsville. While the chemistry between the three leads feels real and there are some clever laughs, the movie is filled with too many improbable coincidences, a parade of ridiculous incidents to advance the story, and a bunch of characters too bizarre to be believed, including a posse of dwarfs equipped with medieval weapons. To further compound the aforementioned issues, the movie is edited with a seizure-inducing style at times. While Weirdsville had some potential, it just seems as though things were taken too far. Again, welcome to Weirdsville.
I was expecting a little more weird from this movie . What I ended up with is a couple junkies in debt scheming plans to make it right with the dealer . That and sprinkle in a dead hooker and satanic cult . Fun movie . 3.1
Two junkies, who are planning a safe heist to pay off the mobster they owe $8000, clash with Satanists when they interrupt a ritual while burying an overdosed friend. At times this stoned black comedy from the director of PUMP UP THE VOLUME flirts with BIG LEBOWSKI-esque greatness, but some questionable contrivances and forced quirkiness put it in the merely entertaining range.
Just like the title, go into this movie expecting something different. I was surprised how well it was done and from not hearing about it it was really funny. In my taste anyway.
Extremely odd and has tons of different genre nods. It shouldn't work but incredibly it does it well.
A man stabbed in the head with an icicle, drug dealers, a satanic cult and midgets who dress up as medieval knights...how could you go wrong?
Like Guy Ritchie directing a Kevin Smith film. ish.
Just a new film on Sky, I usually have a look at anything called slacker comedy as that's what 'Dude, where's my car?' was billed as. Yet again...nothing like the genius of Dude, not even funny...so often films which aren't funny are billed as black comedy. I ended up just suffering through getting increasingly annoyed by the stupidity of the doped up leads. The acting is probably really good...maybe cultists and heroin addicts are this frustrating and irritating, I just don't want to find out. Dull and annoying...not worth it.
Quirky dark comedy where a couple of losers are caught up in drugs and stolen money and it's enjoyable enough without ever being that great a film
