Audience Member it's essentially a Christmas romantic comedy one of John Turtletaub's earlier works as well as Sandra Bullock's when you're in a coma what happens while you're sleeping? Lucy is a toll booth operator in the big city; single, lives with her cat, and is in love with a man she has never spoken to (Peter Gallagher) one day he gets pushed into the train tracks and ends up in a coma, Lucy then gets him to the hospital claiming to be his fiance but didn't count on his whole family showing up desperate for him to be okay she goes along with the lie afraid if anyone finds out they would be devastated later his brother, Jack (Bill Pullman) shows up making things a tad more complicated and it looks like the both of them may actually be falling for each other this premise actually sounds a lot like The Proposal' (2009) except both leads were actually part of the con but this too is actually very funny, sweet plus it's got the Christmas spirit to add an extra layer we don't know when we actually fall in love until something happens to someone else, being a part of a family isn't something you just do it sometimes happens on its own, we want to leave our stamp in the world someday, and of course life doesn't always go the way you expect or want it to Bullock and Pullman are top-notch here despite Gallagher being asleep for most of the runtime this is a cute combo of romance and holiday vibes even 3 decades later Rated 4/5 Stars •  Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/25 Full Review Ed L A sheer delight! Lucy is an orphan and family less single girl living in Chicago. Happens to save his crunch from a train accident and by a misunderstanding, she passes as the fiance. Even though they don’t really know each other. Cute. Cheese factor low.
