Women Talking Reviews
Elas falam, falam, falam e não falam nada e nem chegam a lugar nenhum! Filme chato do caramba
Movie filled with hatred against men utterly disgusting and trash like this won awards.
boring. no acting. Just a bunch of women sitting in a barn talking.......
Don’t waste your time. Good cast wasted on very little plot. Sarah Polley is as disappointing a director as she is an actor. The entire movie is about a conversation in a barn that should only require 15 min screen time, instead it’s stretched out over the entire film. The fake, CGI view of farmland looking out from the barn was obvious and unnecessary. It should have been easy enough to film an actual view of farmland. Ben Wishaw’s character was a groveling ninny. I can’t imagine that Rooney Mara’s character would have any romantic notions towards him.
Amazing writing and directing by Sarah Polley along with a stellar cast, create a powerful and unforgettable viewing experience!
Brilliant poignant unusual film
a powerful script that focuses on humanizing the issues discussed, rather than providing any definitive answers. my only hesitation here stems from the setting and context where these conversations are occurring. it is interesting that such universal thoughts are so widely available and quickly accepted within such a confined, sheltered community. as a concept, that contrast is very thought-provoking, but as a “historical” depiction these arguments seem to culminate almost too easily.
The performances in this movie are amazing, especially Claire Foy. I was tricked into thinking my queen Frances McDormand would have a bigger role but oh well! I found the movie frustrating because I truly didn't know where the writers were taking it, and I think I would've found any decision to be infuriating. Very timely film.
A thought provoking movie. The discussions about religion, community, safety, what you know, the fear of setting out into the unknown, are all contained within this movie.
An absolutely gorgeous film. So powerful, even in its most raw moments. This was perfectly cast, beautifully shot, and will remain a long-time favorite.
Probably would have been more effective as a play as you wouldn't lose the wonderful tension of the barn scenes and would be able to let the characters have a little more definition.
How does this drivel get greenlit, let alone get rave reviews by critics and award boards?
It's not a movie, it's a 2 hour lecture. One of the most laughable pieces of fiction I've ever seen.
I stopped and rewatched segments cause they were so beautifully scripted and interpreted. Difficult topic but ultimately uplifting so don't let that hold you back from watching it.
This was without a doubt one of the most meaningless movies I've ever watched. I really tried hard to finish the movie but couldn't.
Amazing performances! Beautifully depicted! Good adaptation of the novel. Definitely worth reading!
One of the best movies I have ever had the honor of seeing.
This devastatingly beautiful film won the 2023 Oscar for best writing - adapted screenplay, and rightfully so. You'll want to rewind several times so you can fully process the words and concepts revolving around forgiveness, gender roles, faith and violence. It takes a while to delineate between the characters, and that may be intentional on writer/director Sarah Polley's part. At first, the women seem like a homogenous mass, but then individuals begin to rise up in the conversation. The lone man with any dialogue - August played by the wonderful Ben Whishaw - rescues the film from being a tirade against men. This is a movie worth rewatching many times.
It was one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking movies I've seen in the last 10 years.
Sarah Polley's film is a fascinating fictional feature about an isolated Mennonite community in an unnamed English speaking place shortly before 2010. The cast is a who's who, but the story leaves several questions. It will be more emotional for those who have daughters. It will make you think if you like that kinda thing! There is a lot great here. It certainly stomps down the narrative, but some of these actresses can be watched reading a phone book! Final Score: 8/10
