Dope Thief: Season 1 Reviews
Story and characters were compelling. Brian Tyree Henry great as always. Loved it!
Episode 1 was decent and made me think the show was going to be smart and exciting. But after that, it went downhill. The cast yells too much, and even though they stole a lot of money, there’s no real action or suspense—no chase scenes or dramatic moments. It tries to be funny, but the jokes don’t work. Honestly, I’m not sure what kind of show this is supposed to be.
Real viewer M and neither bot only reviewed this show. Makes me think that these users are plants. Man, I was actually pumped for this one since a few of my favorite actors are in it. But wow… it’s a trainwreck. The action scenes feel totally fake, the jokes don’t hit at all, and the plot? Don’t even get me started. By the last episode, it somehow got even worse. Everything the characters do is so painfully predictable, it ends up feeling like an accidental comedy. I barely made it through an episode and a half before I bailed. Just couldn’t sit through any more of that.
This is one of the most underrated shows. For sure this goes on many top ten lists at the end of the year. One thing I want to give a shout out too especially is the music -- which is so good and so immersive.
Two of the best performances by actors you'll see in a long time -- and the writing is whip smart. The pilot is excellent -- but there's good stuff building throughout. So much makes more sense in retrospect that I may watch again. Can't recommend enough.
Dope thief does not live up to the false hype! The trailer was interesting, so I gave it a try. After the first 2 episodes I reluctantly watched it to the end, hoping it would get better, but it did not it got worse! I was disappointed. The show represents stereotypical portrayals of certain characters, with no clear backstory. The main storyline drops off early, it is a sloppy script. Not believable, not engaging—definitely not worth a second season and not worth a watch. I cannot recommend this show to anyone.
The trailer was alluring. I watched some episodes. Then, I was disappointed. The show represents stereotypical portrayals of certain characters, with no clear backstory. The main storyline drops off early, wasting great actors on a sloppy script. Not believable, not engaging—definitely not worth a second season.
I’ve only seen the first three episodes, but I’m already all in. The story’s unfolding in such an intriguing way, and even though I was hesitant at first, I’m really glad I decided to watch it.
Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura consistently deliver in every role they take on, and Dope Thief is no exception. Honestly, this might be their strongest performance yet.
The episodes have kept us hooked with plenty of action and a few laughs along the way. The chemistry and dialogue between the two leads are especially well-written.
Too many black cast members who do not fit. That and weird hairstyles makes the series somewhat fake - marketing for hairdos.
This is an excellent show with very well-drawn characters. Not perfect, no -- but very good. I would give it four stars -- but I'm rounding up to 5 because I read about 6 or 7 reviews from basic women's names, all giving it a half-star, and all saying virtually the same exact thing. Then I saw they all also did the same to "Crowded Room," "Tetris" and "Carry-On." Hmmm...
This show does not make sense. Characters are inconsistent. The lines are terrible and storyline overall not good at all.
Well, the last few reviews (Darcey, Sandy, Sarah), all Gen-X names, have all given it a 1/2-star with a vague response -- and, strangely, they all did the same for exactly the same other 3 or 4 movies or shows. This is either a really fun group of gals, all watching things they hate together -- or some single creep of a hater/bot who's decided to go after a show they haven't watched, or at least haven't watched much. I've never left a response on one of these, but this made me angry. The show is very good -- and deserves better than people and/or bots like that. If it's not a bot, it's a person who lives and thinks like a bot. Obviously one good review doesn't rebut a flood of phony bad ones -- but the show is unique and interesting and features several of performances that are above-and-beyond the usual fare on 온라인카지노추천. Obviously it's not for everyone; nothing is. But it's impossible to watch this show and not see the effort and talent involved.
Sorry I can't recommend this show. I thought it would be worth watching after seeing the previews. It is so not real from the characters to the plot line.
There was a couple episodes that seemed.. not as good, like they lost the way. But then when you realize what’s going on they make sense in retrospect, and the last few episodes were good. Still gonna say it was a fun ride beginning to end.
Not impressed at all. Far fetched ! Made it through 2 episodes with difficulty. Ditched after that. I prefer smart intelligent people as main characters. The characters were not real almost coming out of the left field.
I almost passed this one up, then took a chance. So glad I did. A gritty, off the wall, crazy ride of a story. And Kate Mulgrew as the mother, what a riot she was! I can't relate to some saying performances were bad. I thought the cast was pretty solid. All in all, I really enjoyed it and hope to see a Season 2. I need to know how Mom is after all this, LOL!
Dope Thief really was a drag. Very slow and some of the plot lines were not quite clear. I really wanted to like this.
