Happy Tears Reviews
This movie did little for me. The trippy bits were a complete turn-off and a disconnect. I didn't understand the characters, I didn't empathize with them. I was just glad when the movie was over.
It wants to be a good movie, but it is far too "quirky" for its own good. It often feels forced. It must be noted that Demi Moore gives a solid performance. And, Parker Posey carries her charismatic weight. But the film just sort of flounders. Lichtenstein's film manages to be both all-too-familiar and a bit too strange at the same time.
I enjoyed this movie very much, I don't know why the critics are so low. Parker Posey is magical and I loved the references and the acting. It wasn't very eventful or emotional but it was very entertaining.
Quite the story which i became very interested in when i saw who the two main characters are being played by you just can't get any better than that with Demi Moore and Parker Posey i enjoyed the funnier moments in the film and Overall i quite enjoyed the film kudos to the cast and director
The film was so so. I felt like I have seen this type of movie before. It reminded me of movies like Marvin's Room and In Her Shoes, except those films were better than this one. The tone and the pacing was off. Parker Posey is great in the film. She and Demi Moore are great as sisters in the film. Rip Torn seemed miscast as their father. The film is worth seeing for Posey and Moore's performances.
A quirky comedy - aren't all movies starring Parker Posey quirky? - that is worth seeing if only for Rip Torn's performance.
Unless the entire purpose of this movie is to be bleak and depressing, it must have gone way over my head. I saw nothing to like here. The cast is fantastic, so this should have been great, but there just isn't any point. An hour and a half of watching a dysfunctional family fight and cry is not my idea of entertainment.
Two stars because I love Parker Posey. Half star because I like Demi Moore. Otherwise, pretty weird. Very poorly edited. If you notice the editing in film, you can be sure that it's because it's bad.
well the old saying still holds true; that is u can't judge a book or movie by its cover. i had no idea what this little indie was about but i thought it might be a story about a lesbian couple like "the kids are alright" since the cover showed the 2 stars parker posey (keeping her indie wqueen title) and demi moore in a warm embrace. actually they are 2 sisters dealing with their relationship while caring 4 their sick father and the messes he's made.
Ok movie - good performances by the actors but just not enough story to hold one's attention for long. A little too vague and unclear at times which made it frustrating to watch

The one thing hard to believe about this movie is that Demi Moore even accepted her role. Family Drama about a dad who has reached the age o really needing nursing care. So Sorry 1 Star is all I'll throw out there.
Enjoyed the fantastcal bits-- parker poseys' trip-outs. Otherwise kinda like your average nutty family film. Ellen barkin was super as the druggie-girlfriend!
Parker Posey is very good in this movie. Unfortunately the characters are not very believable and sometimes they are annoying. The dream sequences are annoying in this film and they don't really add anything. Overall I would say skip this one.
