Wonderful World Reviews
Peaceful movie about the simplest things can give you peace and pleasure. Very good movie
The young people behind the film have done a great job and it can be seen in this film. I liked it very much.
I was disappointed by this movie. I thought it would be so much more interesting, with a sturdy plot and fully developed characters, but it really was not. Instead it was so-so acting, bad accents, and an unbelievable love story. I could never see the characters played by Broderick and Lathan falling in love or even having sex. How they moved from strangers to lovers made absolutely no sense. There was no sign of a "spark" or lust. It was just random. This film could have been much better. I don't think I will watch it again.
I don't really mind the lack of originality, I still find this movie smart and spiritually uplifting.
nothing really special althought in some way different movie. its trying to talk and saying nothing. movie about failing guy failed itself.
It's not bad, but it's also pretty dead in the water when it comes to dramatic interest and momentum. One of those rare "nothing" movies; nothing happened between me and the screen. It simply existed.
Wonderful World stars Matthew Broderick as Ben, a one-time children's music star and now the most pessimistic person in the world. Ben holds a major grudge toward the "man" and his greed. Ben's character arc takes the viewer onto an entertaining ride. I rooted for Ben to get his act together throughout the entire film. His opposite and love interest was played by Sanaa Lathan as Khadi, Ibu's sister, Ben's best friend that is hospitalized. Ben learns much about how wonderful life is from the brother and sister from Senegal. The film is uplifting and pushes the idea that life is worth living and to remain strong through the difficult times. I really enjoyed the film and I definitely think it's worth the time investment to watch a great performance by Matthew Broderick.
I wish Ben and Khadi were united at the end. Sanaa Lathan is so beautiful. I am going to watch her other movies as well.
This guy's Relationship with his daughter and had me cracking up. the movie is pretty gloomy doh but thats what make it funny.
A story told many times before refreshed with some simple but genuine contemporary characters. A lot of critics look so deep that they seem to miss the simple but essential message, that, good or bad, we all have a place in this life that is uniquely our own, and even though finding and inhabiting it can be difficult, it's still there and it fits us perfectly, like our oldest shoes, if only we can find out how to locate ourselves within it. The "old man"character was, at best, largely extraneous, at worst, lazy, weak storytelling. A movie you don't need to see, but you won't necessarily hate yourself if you do.
I wanted to like it more but that weird Senegalese accent and the fake Dakar threw me off a bit. But I still enjoyed it.
Matthew Broderick puts in an intense performance as an unsuccessful man - failure as a singer of childrenâ(TM)s songs and a failure as a father and husband, a bitter cynic and pessimist who inexorably gets his daughter and everyone around him down. How he finds magic and miracle in an ordinary life forms the core of the movie. Itâ(TM)s not maudlin or melodramatic, but at the end, it is uplifting, reminding us that hope can be found in unlikeliest of places and incidents. Not much happens, but the characters evolve, and we start rooting for them. To be savored on one of the quiet afternoons, when you are ready and willing to contemplate the big questions in life.
Matthew Broderick is the reason to watch this. It is sad, though, that I identify with his character so much. He had a revelation that changed his ways, maybe I will, too:)
