King Kong Reviews
This film is peak thirties horror-action. Screw dracula, screw frankenstein, this is the real deal. Despite it being 91 yrs old, the fx hold up.
While I absolutely love the effects in the film, the absolutely dated and stereotypical portrayal of Africans completely sinks this for me. Not to mention, it’s just slow.
An all time classic, cinema gold
Combing adventure, creature feature and romantic tragedy. This is one of the first blockbusters and an legendary film for a reason
This looks amazing considering when it was made. Like even today I enjoy looking at this film. Even the sound was good for the time. It was a bit hissy and obviously has issues but overall the sound is fine. The pace of this movie is so much better than the Peter Jackson remake. It is so much less boring. In fact this version is not boring at all, it is genuinely a good and entertaining movie. Most importantly though, Kong did not go ice skating!
The effects in this movie may be referred to as ahead of their time, although many would label them old and outdated. I wouldn’t. This is one of the rarer times where I find those effects gripping and actually convincing of the wrath and magnitude of the beast before us, even by today’s standards. Once one gets sucked into King Kong, it’s hard to get out, and both meanings are intended through this sentence. One would be convinced a whole beast was actually sitting atop the Empire State Building. Also, Fay Wray is as pretty as a picture.
I love the movie. Actors, setting, stop motion puppets, everything! I’m actually making a remake go check out my YouTube Channel: Michaelzilla 64 and you’ll see everything about making Kong the ape of terror!
The (not really but still) original monster movie.
I recently watched a restored version of this film and it truly is a storytelling classic. Today’s audience may find the stop motion animation a little hokey, but this was the best technology of the day, and I would put Kong’s fight with the T Rex up against any CGI blockbuster of today.
a hood classic. what more needs to be said
There is a reason they call this a classic if there was no Kong there would be no Godzilla the Stop motion action is amazing even today the movie makes you feel. For those that are daring enough enjoy the adventure of a lifetime!
By far the most near perfect adventure fantasy film put to celluloid. Ground breaking and history making, all hail the King!
The Best Kong movie ever
This must of been insane to see at the time. Still holds up pretty well. Kong's big dumb goofy face offers some great unintentional comedy moments.
This is the best movie of all time. Tied with the first remake.
Para ser un película de 1933 King Kong tiene efectos especiales, como el movimiento del muñeco, que es muy gracioso. El guión de la película es muy bueno.
A ground breaking film classic.
From memory, it age exceptionally well. The pace is well done, the effects are still fun to look at, and the story is good. Maybe some dating in some of the tribal depictions, but I can't remember.
7/10. 71/100. | For its Time: 8/10. 80/100
Its a great Halloween film epically for the 1930's great music and great characters good story as well I love the lines at the end if the movie to so good.
