Poltergeist Reviews
The 2nd best movie of the 80s. Great.
The Poltergeist didn't tell us it was a family movie over and over rather it delivered. Fun movie with some scares but not over the top in gore, scares, violence. This would be more along the lines of a family scary movie, yet that is relative to people and family. A drama about a family going through issues that suddenly exposes the concept that when things seem to be going well, they don't take anything for granted: owning a house, having a job, a healthy, safe family. This movie shows how fast events can change. Good storyline, solid acting/sets/makeup/clothes/sound/lights. Some GROSS moments. This main image of Carol Ann, played by Heather O"Rourke, hands on 온라인카지노추천, inspired a movie released last year to use a similar image in promotions. I found that movies that inspired me enough to use a similar visual needed to understand Poltergeist way more and have stronger IMAGINARY skills. When movie inspires others then it is a GOOD THING!
My mom took me to the Drive In to see this when I was kid. It was real scary when it first came out. I still think the special effects are cool.
Although it's a goofy, fun watch through today's lenses, i can imagine how scary it must've been for folks in 80s. It's a creative, witty movie. You can also count how many scenes and ideas were "inspiring" for Duffer brothers
Poltergeist is a masterpiece. How many pictures can get your attention in 3'30?
I still have nightmares. Greatest horror flick of all time.
While not terrifying by today’s standards, it remains a classic for many reasons. Effects are great for the 80’s and has an amazing atmosphere.
Poltergeist remains a standout in the supernatural horror genre, blending thrills, suspense, and heart with the haunting mystery of a family caught in a terrifying paranormal event.
Um clássico, não dar medo hoje em dia, talvez por ser dos anos 80 que envelheceu.. Trilha sonora muito boa. Um filme de Steven Spielberg que não é do Steven kkkkk
42 years later and still entertaining. I was 2 years old when this came out and probably got to see it only a few years later. The part that I remember the most aside from going into the closet and bringing Caroline back is the guy tearing his face off in the mirror. Well not terrifying by any means nowadays,it's still a good movie. And we haven't forgot about you Heather O'Rourke. It's tragic that you didn't make it to Film more movies. For being from 1982 the effects are still pretty impressive. If you've never seen it it's definitely worth a watch just make sure you're watching the original. The remake is garbage.
This has a lot of elements for being a kids' movie. It is rated PG, written by Spielberg, stars Mr. Incredible, has a clown and centers around a family and their home. But rest assured this is NOT a kids' movie. This movie shakes up the haunted house formula in a clever way. Where typically the haunted house is in a creepy location, old creaky doors and isolated from the rest of the world. The people typically arrive at the house and are just visiting. In this film the haunted house is in such an unassuming location. The neighborhood seems nice, and looking at the house, you might even say it looks cozy. And the family isn't just visiting, this is their home. The very place you want go to feel safe from the outside world. Not entirely a new idea, but the way it is filmed makes the house seem so comfortable in one scene, and so terrifying in another. The focus on the family dynamic is also a refreshing change of pace. None of these characters are people you just want to see killed. They are all nice likable people. The ways in which the house haunt the family are all very memorable. You feel like the family goes through so much crap in this house, it can be exhausting. Craig T. Nelson, Jerry Goldsmith and director Tobe Hooper all do an excellent job making this movie a horror classic. Nelson sells his fear and concern for his family, and when he needs to got big, he can really sell panic. Jerry Goldsmith is one of the all-time greats in movie music. And this score sets the scene very well. And Tope Hooper brings things all together with great cinematography and directing. Downside is that there are a few haunts the house does that could have been cut out entirely, and nothing would have been missed. With all the haunts, the movie can feel repetitive. And towards the end, the characters make a really idiotic decision. But outside of those complaints, I can highly recommend this movie. If you're a fan of horror, particularly haunting movies...It's here.
Poltergeist stats off strong, but it falls flat after the first 30 minutes. The scares are light by today' standards.
I expected too much of this one. Enough to motivate the imagination, but ultimately unsatisfactory.
Pretty scary. Absolutely loved the ending
A fine classic Horror that deserves it's respect in that genre.
"Poltergeist" is a horror classic that was produced by none other than Steven Spielberg. Anyone who knows me knows that Spielberg is one of my all-time favorite filmmakers. I think his involvement here made the film hold back a bit and the end result is entertaining to watch, but not as unsettling and intense as it could have been. I genuinely think this movie is a horror movie I would suggest it to people who don't really like the genre because it isn't that scary. The movie has a creepy premise, but I just never felt scared the way I feel I should have with what was going on in the story. I still admire the film's use of practical effects and think it is an impressive movie that definitely has that 80s vibe, but there are undeniably other elements that just haven't aged that well. Overall, it is a bit of passable spooky fun that isn't one of my favorite ghost stories, but is still a decent watch.
They Are Here. Poltergeist is a 1982 American supernatural horror film directed by Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper 👻 Not bad, but not my favourite either 😐 Meh, it passed the time. Just. 😐 👍🏼👎🏼 Why I enjoyed the whole 1980s retro feel of the movie, some parts are quite slow and light on. And the 1950s style melodramatic Movie doesn’t help… Upon realizing that something truly evil haunts his home, Steve Freeling calls in a team of parapsychologists to help before it's too late.
It's so weird. Especially the middle section and all the scenes with the clairvoyant. The special effects range from super cheesy and so dated (hello 1982) to quite impressive, especially the parts that incorporated the practical effects and props. There are parts that are funny that I'm not sure are supposed to be. And it's not really scary in the slightest, mostly just bizarro. I kind of want to give this only two stars because it just doesn't make for a very enjoyable watch 40 years after its release, but I think given the time, context, and what were probably state-of-the-art effects, it's decent enough to earn a three.
Man, this is a GOOD movie. Nowadays I only hope for solidly mediocre. No boring parts. Great character development. Freely, but not too gory, we'll except for one dream sequence where a guy tears his own face off. Very California 1980s growing up - R.C. Cars, T.V. remotes new technology, Televisions going off air at night after the National Anthem, etc
One of the best movies it still gave me the chills.
