Poison Ivy Reviews
Always watch this when it comes on 온라인카지노추천.
the horror of the seduction
I found it very predictable and boring. Its pace is a bit slow. I skip parts of it just so that I knew exactly what happened and I still found it boring. Yet, less boring than it'd be if I had watched the whole thing. I think in great part this is due to the lack of depth of the characters. We know little about each of them, and none of them is likable or interesting.
I don't understand the bad reviews. I loved the movie. It's about a young girl who is far more sophisticated than her years. A rich family takes her in and she takes over the family. She uses her beauty and seduction abilities like a predator. It's similar to Lolita but different. This girl is much more sophisticated than Lolita. In Lolita the girl was more innocent and only sometimes seductive. This girl isn't innocent, she's a predator. I love how crafty and manipulative she is.
one of those movies you watch like two times in your life and then forget about. it's "alright" for an oldie
Solid little erotic thriller, that seemed to have a spawned a whole wave of them in the 90s. It's basically a cheap Lolita knockoff, but Barrymore is impressive in the role, as is Tom Skerritt.
A surprisingly entertaining erotic thriller that keeps its head above water due to the casting of Drew Barrymore in the title role. She plays the sexy seductress and the film manages to not be overly lurid or sleazy.
Drew Barrymore ups the ante in her bad girl persona in this indie flick that was a major turning point for her career. Barrymore plays the mysterious and envious Ivy; who has just appeared out of nowhere to an outcast teen (Sara Gilbert) and has made rather quick friends with her. Gilber and Barrymore portray their characters with great conviction; unfortunately Tom Skerritt and Cheryl Ladd, as Gilbert's parents, seem to be fulfiling some sort of contractual obligation for their roles. While the film is pretty cookie cutter Fatal Attraction-esque fare centered around teen girls; it does manage to pull Barrymore and Gilbert into focus as worthy box office opponents. The cinematography and score complement the emotional storyline, Beware the three (3) sequels that came forth from this.
A pretty strong opening but inconsistent after that. The ideas have been better executed elsewhere. Sara Gilbert and Drew Barrymore are mostly good but probably needed another take or two to get some of the weaker scenes up to snuff.
Drew Barrymore stars in the erotic thriller Poison Ivy. The story follows a high school vixen named Ivy who befriends a social outcast named Sylvie; but the friendship turns dark and disturbed as Ivy inserts herself into Sylvie's family. Barrymore gives a strong performance that carries the seductive and sinister nature of the character. And, she has good chemistry with co-star Sara Gilbert; the two have a compelling relationship that enhances an otherwise mediocre script. Despite some of its more provocative parts, Poison Ivy is a tragic tale about the need to belong.
Though it clearly borrows from the likes of Brian De Palma and Alfred Hitchcock, "Poison Ivy" is a very decent thriller. More than decent, actually. The movie's language is often poetic. The music is eerie. And the film offers a suspenseful look at a friendship gone bad. Sara Gilbert and Tom Skerritt make a good father and daughter team, but the real surprise is Drew Barrymore as Ivy. Barrymore plays against her usual type and sizzles as a sexy, disturbed teen who, like the clever title states, purposefully poisons everything she touches. "Poison Ivy" is pretty erotic, and it works as a thriller, but overall, it's really entertaining to watch Drew go bad. Give this one a shot.
Ivy (Drew Barrymore) the sexy, streetwise new girl in a posh private school, will do anything to fit in. Sylvie (Sara Gilbert) rich, smart, but misunderstood-needs a friend. When Ivy is invited into Sylvie's privileged world, she is instantly intrigued. Sylvie's father (Tom Sherritt) is a handsome 온라인카지노추천 newscaster; her mother (Cheryl Ladd) is a beautiful Beverly Hills wife. Yet tensions in the home run deep - providing a license for malice that Ivy is quick to seize. also stars Alan Stock, Jeanne Sakata, Angel Broadhurst, Warren Burton and Randall Caldwell. directed by Katt Shea.
I've seen this movie a few times in parts. Never sat through the whole thing. It wasn't very exciting. Drew's Character is very wicked and deceiving.
The orchestral soundtrack and creepy atmosphere make for a moving experience. The cast, plot and script are capable and sufficient, but secondary.
