Boomerang Reviews

It’s worth watching for the classic “COORDINATE!” scene alone.

A fun rom-com of the mack getting played and coming to some realizations. Eddie Murphy and David Allen Grier make the movie with Halle Berry making you fall in love with her and Geoffery Holder stealing every scene he is in.

Eddie Murphy trying to mug his way through another movie and failing. Everything you need to know about this pitiful movie is in the movie poster. Trying to give his faux sophisticated look just makes him look stupid. He is better than this.

It's fairly obvious from the get where everything is going, which isn't that surprising for a rom com. It's got a lot of good beats though, and it's fun to see Murphy attempt a screwball comedy in the 90s.

Eddie Murphy stars in Boomerang, a romantic comedy from 1992 about an advertising executive whose womanizing ways are challenged when he finally falls in love. Marcus Graham (Eddie Murphy) is successful and very good at his job but his love life is a constant string of girlfriends he nitpicks to death, then dumps. When his company is acquired, he begins a relationship with his new boss but finds that being on the other side of his own tactics is not much fun at all. As that relationship slowly crumbles, he develops real feelings towards colleague Angela (Halle Berry) but how he accepts and deals with these feelings proves itself to be the real challenge. A different kind of project for Murphy, being a rom-com, Boomerang was a successful film for the star who showed he could apply his style of comedy to yet another kind of story. With a strong supporting cast that includes Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, David Alan Grier, Eartha Kitt and the ever-reliably eccentric Grace Jones, Boomerang is a funny film throughout as it manages to be a solid Murphy vehicle without feeling too wild or cartoonish. The themes tackled here (infidelity, commitment) are explored in an interesting way and, while the film doesn't go too deeply into them, it gives both Marcus and us plenty to think about. It works, despite the film too often feeling like an excuse to show its star get together with one pretty girl after another. While Marcus is a womanizer and should come off as extremely unsympathetic and insecure as he goes through what is basically a midlife crisis, Eddie Murphy plays him with enough subtlety that you do care about this guy and look forward to him growing up. There's a clear vulnerability to Marcus and this, coupled with Murphy's effortless charm, plus the fact that the character gets a taste of his own medicine, makes him relatable. Unfortunately, the film seems reluctant to teach him too many harsh lessons as his puppy dog eyes save the day time and time again. It would have been refreshing to see the man feel what he's been making others feel a little more and, perhaps, not have him get what he wants by the end. While Boomerang isn't Eddie Murphy's most hilarious movie, it remains a funny, sharply written piece with a likable cast and good intentions, even if it regrettably shies away from delivering the emotional punch this movie very much needed. Enjoyable enough.

I think it's a classic movie, although there are a few offensive things that can be viewed in today era. All in all, it was extremely funny, touching, drama filled beautiful movie. The cast was very amazing.

If you didn't watch this movie between 1992 and 2000… your review doesn't count or have relevance. It's like someone reviewing a Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler movie 20 years after its release. If you aren't in the moment.,,you are irrelevant

LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 58 minutes starring Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boomerang brings Eddie Murphy together with an all-star cast in a comedy with a lot of small laughs, some out of left field. I liked the premise of a f*** boy getting the tables turned on him, but I didn't think it was enough to sustain a nearly two-hour run time. Comedies typically don't have enough steam to go past 90 minutes, and Boomerang is no exception.

One of my favorite Eddie Murphy movies.

This movie has some of the most memorable Elements of any Eddie Murphy movie. The unbelievable cast of then, and future, comedy superstars come together for a romantic comedy about the transformation of a playboy who finds true love. There are scenes involving Eartha Kitt and Grace Jones that will leave you speechless. Scenes with Martin Lawrence and David Alan Grier that will have you in tears of laughter. Murphy Allows others to shine and that is the strength of this one.

I don't know what I expected from Boomerang, exactly, but I was still disappointed. Instead of a romantic comedy, this is a film full of annoying relationships and tasteless jokes. Eddie Murphy's ego seems to have run unchecked while making this movie. And I think we can thank Boyz II Men‘s song "End of the Road" for this soundtrack's popularity. It certainly wasn't because of the film.

The greatest rom-com in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I'm concerned, Grace Jones steals the movie. I watch the first act because of her. The second act isn't as fun as the first.

This is a classic! Hilarious and a good romantic comedy that is still funny today. Ignore the troll or undercover racist reviews due to the black leads or production that seems to plague review sites at times. Smart people without agendas can see through it.

Amazing movie back when the world wasn't PC amazing actors all still doing it well

Every one of the cast were given a chance to shine, beneath Berry and Murphy's performances, with managed comedy at a decent rate, but the film couldn't be helped due to being uneventful which validates how misguiding the premise swerved. (B-)
