every preconception i had about this movie was that it was a masterpiece, and still i ended up walking out of the theater astounded and lost for words.

A superfluous performance by Denzel Washington. A superb biopic from Spike Lee.

Malcom X directed by Spike Lee is a top tier bio pic. Great film making, style, tone. Three strong and very entertaining acts led by the incredible performance of Denzel Washington, who becomes this character. You can never look away for 3 hours it's so captivating. I am just going by what I see in the movie, not the book it was adapted from. Tomato scores from the pros and audiences at 90 which seems about right. It's a must watch for me, highly recommend.

One of the best biopics I've seen. Ever. Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" is raw, triumphant, and monumental. Definitely Denzel's best role I've seen by far, and Spike's direction of this is also amazing. The 202-minute runtime never drags, and the writing in this is just phenomenal.

Absolutely riveting performance by Denzel Washington. He IS MALCOM X. Embodying his style his speech and his attitude throughout the entire movie. And what an incredible story is told in the finest and most thrilling, uplifting, hopeful, conflicting, sad ways.

4.35. The plot moves along perfectly -- despite the film being three hours and 20 minutes long. Denzel Washington gave another strong performance. The way he projects conviction in his acting and the way X expressed conviction are similar, I imagine. And they even somewhat look like each other. The conflicts and X's story itself are intriguing. And the questions he asked are important. The costumes, lighting and shots also are strong.

One of the great American epics and perhaps one of a handful of biopics where covering most of the subject's life works to its advantage. Washington gives the performance of his career here.

Reveals the journey of Malcolm X, from hustler to hero, with empathy and a lot of emotion that leaves us gasping! We witness how Denzel channels Malcolm's inner turmoil as he experiences the evil of racism and the hypocrisy of society. By the explosive finale, we feel a piece of us die as we witness the downfall of one of histories most outspoken of leaders!

One of the Oscars biggest blunders was not awarding best Actor to Denzel for Malcolm X . That movie really deserved at least 3 Oscars that year : Denzel - Best Actor, Spike Lee - Best Director, Best Picture

One of the greatest films from Spike Lee, and the the most iconic performance from Denzel Washington.

Arguably the best acting Denzel Washington has ever done. My top spike lee joint! It’s extremely hard to capture such a charismatic personality like Malcolm X but Denzel pulled it off

This is probably the only Spike Lee film I enjoyed (other works were often too campy or hyperbolic). This film was an overall very good production, had meaning, and told the story of Malcolm X well.

Denzel’s natural intensity is perfect fit for Malcolm X. He carries this film from start to finish (all 3 hr 20 min) and should have one the Oscar for Best Actor. The film does sometimes over-glorify Malcolm and sort of laughs off the reporters that accused him of being a black supremacist (especially in the eulogy at the end). However, overall it does a good job of tracking Malcom’s various transformations and changes in viewpoint. Perhaps Malcom would have eventually become an advocate for peace like MLK.

I was expecting a more emotionally moving film than what I got here. Spike Lee is preachy.

This is what I like films based on true story and over 3 hours plus great acting by denzel, give it a good 8 out of 10 would recommend 👍
