Airborne Reviews
Airborne falls just short of approximating that time capsule longing, but it did unveil a mirror for audiences, both local and far beyond...

The rare teen comedy that argues for being yourself and actually wins its case.
| Original Score: B | Jan 30, 2023
The occasional action scenes are as appropriately tortuous as the tired teen-out-of-water plot is torturous. This is a kid-flick that's speed-skating on one leg.

Predictable teen-slush.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Sep 30, 2019
The movie turns out to be hyperslick, quite well made in the technical sense (beautifully photographed and designed) and somewhat shallow, another exploration of that perennial and passionate teen theme, fitting in.

The characters are clueless; the dialogue is cretin.

Kids might enjoy this teenage fish-out-of-the-surf comedy, but anyone approaching the high school age of the movie's characters will spot the obvious formula within 15 minutes of opening credits.
| Sep 30, 2019
High production values and a moderately appealing cast do nothing to ameliorate the tedium.
| Original Score: D | Sep 30, 2019
Instead of telling a story, the filmmakers follow an outline (or, in this case, an in-line).

Oddly enough "Airborne" is tasty cotton candy for the screen.

Tries for a genuinely entertaining dramedy while pandering to the Extreme Sports crowds, everywhere.

A helluva lot of fun......babes, beats and bad-ass skate stunts!
Full Review | Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 10, 2005
Slackly directed and thinly written, "Airborne" exists mainly for its scenes of the big race, in which two teams rocket down a series of winding hills, jumping over cars, scooting under trucks and bouncing down stairs.

Fad flick that has lots of skateboards ... and literally nothing else.

There are reasons to commend [Rob] Bowman and screenwriter Bill Apablasa, who have gone out of their way to keep Mitchell's character honest. He manages to resolve his conflicts without giving up his values. In other words, nothing happens.

All in all, AIrborne is not bad for what it is, but what it is is very little.
