Persuasion Reviews
Even the exquisite period cinematography, scenery and costuming could not make up for the lack of any chemistry I could sense between the main characters. I honestly never could summon the least care if they found each other or or not. Sorry.
There's a reason why this story (or version of this story) has been largely forgotten. It is largely forgettable. I liked the story. It follows the formula of stories from that era. The romantic tension of the couple that you know will end up together was played out well. The race to get a husband/patron was all in there. The suitor who only had selfish interest was there, too. The story didn't hit home, though. My favorite film with this template is Keira Knightley's version of 'Pride and Prejudice'. I can watch that film multiple times. This story has that potential as well, but it didn't quite have the same impact on me.
Not the best version but still worth your time.
A very well done Austen adaption. Once you finish it you you want to watch it all over again. The chemistry between Anne and Wentworth is brilliantly played.
Hands down the best Jane Austen adaptation I've ever seen. Mannerist dramas are their best. I've seen this movie over 20 times and I never get sick of it
This is absolutely the best adaptation of Persuasion ever. The idiot reviewer who wrote the "movie info" blurb, who clearly has never read Jane Austen's Persuasion, said the movie was "loosely" based on the book. Uh, no. It follows the book pretty darn faithfully, with very few and very minor changes.
Best 온라인카지노추천 adaptation of a Jane Austen novel I have seen. Excellent screenplay, also excellent unpretentious acting from a superb cast. Most important aspect of the programme is that it is faithful to the novel, which is one of the great masterpieces of world literature.
Best adaptation of this story. Delightful and each character breathes full life.
I especially enjoyed it because it was filmed in bath.
First thing first the movie follows the book rather well considering it is only a an hour and forty-five minutes long. Small things were altered, dialog given and taken, scenes altered but stuck to the book quite well. This is one of my favorite books by Austen and they did it justice. It is beautiful, romantic and every time I catch myself awing.
The single perfect Austen adaptation. Root leads a wonderfully directed cast in a beautiful, intelligent, thoughtful and emotionally riveting film. As PERSUASION was Austen's final and most considered distillation of her work, this film catches the depth of her consideration - without sacrificing humor and plain delight. Amanda Root gives one of the great performances in it.
A very swooning Jane Austen adaptation about an "old maid" who has a second shot at happiness when her former lover returns eight years later amid her very busy household affairs that always seem to intrude on their reconciliation.
this was austin's final book also was the last of hers that i read and the last of her movies I've seen this entry bears little resemblence to the novel.
Although fans of Jane Austen will love it, almost anyone else will likely find it boring, trite, and pointless.
