Out of Sight Reviews
Clooney and Lopez’s naturally electric chemistry is supercharged by the fact that the film never slips into sentimentality, always keeping their will-they-won’t-they amour at a tantalizing distance until the decisive moment.

One of the strongest aspects of this film is the atmosphere and tone Soderbergh along with his cinematographer Elliot Davis creates.

Out of Sight might be one of the best under-the-radar titles of the late 1990s - a teasing showcase for what most of its participants would unleash in the decade to come.

Compared to previous Leonard adaptations, Out of Sight doesn't offer anything radically new, but it revealed Soderbergh--after a string of box office disappointments--in full command of his craft.

You can see it at the end of a rough day and come out refreshed; it’s like driving a new air-conditioned car on a muggy day.

Out of Sight was a critical success, but never quite caught on completely with audiences. Hopefully, that will change, as it deserves to be considered a classic.

Those seeking a superb adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel should watch Get Shorty; those who opt instead for Out of Sight will catch an occasionally meandering yarn elevated by a handful of choice scenes and an exemplary roster of supporting players.

This wasn't as sexy as I remembered but it's fine. Definitely a bit too long and some of the secondary characters were too cartoonish for me but it's a fun watch.

It's a tad overlong, which I think could have been addressed in editing. Having a sexy cast definitely helped though.

The complex crime caper at the heart of the tale (based on an Elmore Leonard novel) takes a rightful back seat to the potent sizzle of stars George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

Soderbergh transcends the pulpy genre through trusting in the great performances that Leonard's meaty characterisations allow and with his own sleek and clever direction.

By turns bleak, funny, touching, sexy and poignant, with bursts of violence that rise like sudden geysers from a still pool, Out of Sight is chock-full of dead-on performances.

Its effortless cool and flawless ensemble make it the best translation of an Elmore Leonard book yet.
