I definitely enjoy learning more about the British monarchy

Liked it quite a bit as a teen and perhaps in my 20s, but not so much in my 40s. The self-adulation and evangelism, though somewhat counterbalanced, are just too palpable. 2.25/5

Wonderful!! They could not make something like this today. They would update it creating or changing the characters! Revisionist history. I loved this film!!

Wouldn't blame Elizabeth if she came back and chopped off some heads but I doubt that she would even recognize herself in this wildly inaccurate version of events.

Gwenyth Paltrow winning the best actress Oscar over Cate Blanchett was and still is a travesty. An excellent movie that comes across as more political thriller than biopic. Led by the mesmorising Blanchett, this is one of 1998's best movies.

The best acting performance from Cate Blanchett!

I like historical pictures, including medieval Europe. However, I felt this film did not live up to its aspirations - and that it was a bit dull - despite some excellent acting all the way around.

Cate Blanchett is great as Elizabeth, but this has to be the most inaccurate historical drama you will ever see.

One of my favorite Movies hope they make a third Movie! if you want History to come alive and see How amazing Cate is!

One of the better historical movies on a crucial time and especially with the breaking of Rome. Elizabeth's father died believing he was Catholic. She was the one who created the Church of England (Anglicism) with the Book of Common Prayer. I don't know if Mary was brunette as Henry VIII and Catherine of Argon were both redheads.

This was fun. The costumes were amazing and acting rather good too. However, don't watch it for historical accuracy, they definitely took some liberties. Most of the events seemed to have either been mushed together, (events that happened years apart presented to have happen in the space of a week) or made up for the sake of the film ( eg Liz didn't know that Robert was married and so was upset)

I just saw it (2021) and I can say is a must if you are into british period dramas. Cast is outstanding, Cate Blanchett really carries the weight of portraying such an historical icon and spectacularly delivers.

Lei è il vero punto di forza di una rappresentazione che giustamente la pone al centro dell'attenzione, quasi fosse un'opera teatrale, facendole girare intorno una serie di personaggi che non riescono minimamente a toglierle la luce. Ottimi i costumi.
