Deep Blue Sea Reviews
One of the best Shark movies for sure
Killed the bird for no reason😔
Deep Blue Sea is better than JAWS the revenge and is quite actually my guilty pleasure Shark Week movie to have fun and chill for summer shark movie.
It's from 1999, but it still works really well as an action-disaster-shark movie, with well-known faces in the cast. No wonder a sequel was made, but quite a few years later, and I'd be surprised if that is as good.
This was upsetting. The main takeaway here is an unrelenting nightmare of sharks, claustrophobia, and some of the most horrific and devastating deaths ever. These are on full display, shoved into the audience’s face with the force of a head-on collision with a Peterbilt. Although a solid thriller, these scenes are not only gruesome and shocking, they are extremely unpleasant to watch. Not sure why I loved this movie so much as a kid.
Crazy hybrid shark action what’s not to like!
I have this on DVD and have watched it so many times. It's not going to win Oscars but it's a good watch. You can watch it multiple times, there's good action, good tension, the film builds to a strong climax. Yes it's cheese but it embraces that. I think people hate on it a bit too much for what is probably the second best shark film after jaws.
Samuel L J has an early night in this rubbish nerve shredding but not scary dump truck of a joke. Watched years ago.
How is this 39% audience score!!! At the time best shark movie since jaws! Sure the effects are dated, but take this for what it is, just big dumb fun!!! And sharks having a ball!
What a trip. A film that is tense all the way through.
A fast paced fun action film. Intense throughout and , yes, silly at times, but who cares? A fun time at the movies.
This movie is wonderfully bad and I love the Samuel L Jackson Speech
A perfectly pitched big budget B-Movie using an absurd science fiction premise to produce super intelligent predatory sharks. There's some legitimately brilliant practical effects on display- coupled with some brutal graphic kills, studios don't produce movies of this type on this scale anymore (save that for Syfy- no scale, or Meg- PG13 quick cutaways) and this is a refreshingly lean, self contained action horror, evidently not concerned with pandering to the biggest audience for the most dollars at the expense of content. There's some inventive- and brutal- action sequences, and a few, occasionally hilarious surprises- and some genuinely excellent cinematography. Harlin makes fantastic use of his claustrophobic underwater maze and compensates for over ambitious CGI with murky lighting and quick editing. While most obviously compared to Jaws because sHaRkS, that really is the only comparative element- it's like comparing King Kong to Congo- it might offer a gentle knowing nod to the quintessential shark movie, but it owes more to Alien Resurrection and Predator 2 (both fairly solid b-movies themselves on their own merits, perhaps a tad disappointing based on their roots) than it does Spielberg's classic.
I guess it was good for the 90s. Watching it now...idk it was entertaining but definitely one of those movies you laugh at.
It still believe that sharks movies can bring fans to enjoy action horror films like deep blue sea
Its a fun shark movie with good characters! Its good fun
great action movie, classic for shark lovers.
I knew this film was a parody at best, but I still found it hilariously bad. Deep Blue Sea is terrible in every way; the writing is predictable, the acting is mediocre, and the visual effects are laughable. Don't bother giving it a shot.
This movie kinda tricked me into liking it. I was drawn into it by the premise and the cast. At first it was kinda dumb with ridiculous unrealistic dialogue and mediocre acting. After a while though I grew attached to the characters, especially Thomas Jane and LL Cool J. Just let go and enjoy it. Don't think too much. I will say though don't go into this expecting a horror movie. I often hear of this movie in horror circles even though it's not technically a horror movie. Well it's 99% an action/sci Fi movie. There's really nothing horror about it imo. That's just not the vibe.
Silly, entertaining. Mostly regards as guilty pleasure best shark movie since Jaws.
