Sweet November Reviews
I found this movie incredibly moving when it first came out and even more today. I think it's beautifully acted and written. Yes, you can't really change someone in a month but the story is a simplification of a dynamic that many people go through. It's very possible that the leads wouldn't be able to stay together and overcome their differences which is why, living in this bubble for a month they're able to be the happiest, rose tinted versions of themselves. I love the entire movie and don't understand why it bombed when it first came out.
The worst excuse for a manic Pixie Dreamgirl. Her whole existence and raisin d’être is To make him a better person. Truly shocking that something like this could be made and deemed acceptable.
THE ORIGINAL SWEET NOVEMBER WAS MORE APPEALING TO ME . SOMETHING DONE IN THE 60S .
Although this movie is old I got to watch it because I’ve been binge watching every movie with Keanu reeves in it. The movie was very good I loved the plot twist and the slow simmer of it all, the characters were written good and it’s a good movie to cry to. I really recommend it.
My favorite cancer movie ever
what a disgusting load of hippy horse crap! whose idea was this movie? some sort of really rich hippy free love cultist?
Wonderful movie. Certainly my second favorite movie after Gladiator.
Great chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron ( I like them after the Devil's Advocate). The plot was interesting, nice meeting circumstances and the lead-up was okay tbh; BUT COME ONE, ANOTHER TERMINAL DISEASE???? I just hate to see them apart and wish the story would end up happy for the couple. I really thought they are gonna be together but no so nah. However, good acting from both of them and they are not cheesy AT ALL. This movie has one lesson for all of us that is relatable today is that: live slower, enjoy your life, less hustle is sometimes good and love is beautiful.
I'm not a fan of Charlize Theron but I gave this movie a try anyway. I didn't like it at all and I'm not sure if I would like it now if I saw it again. The storyline is depressing but perhaps the romance makes up for it a little.
I did not like this movie at all. In fact I was pissed off by what I saw transpiring on the screen. I suppose it's possible to tolerate (if not entirely enjoy) Sweet November up to the point where the terminal disease plot device is introduced. The early parts of the film aren't especially well-done, yet, for all of their artifice, they're not unbearable. But the heavy-handed final half-hour, coupled with an astoundingly implausible ending, transforms Sweet November from insubstantial-but-inoffensive to embarrassing. People go to romances to experience the vicarious thrill of participating in someone else's passion, not to endure the kind of leaden paces that this movie puts viewers through. This February release offers many flavors - sour and bitter, in particular - but none of them is sweet. Both the leads Theron and Reeves are adequate and go through the motions. But any actor would have fared similarly. It's the screenplay and plot points which are infuriating.(Overrated and kinda offensive even).
I really like these two actors. And they are points in this movie where they are really trying but this movie is really not good. But, if you like Charlize and Keanu, it's worth one view. Apparently it's liked by more than I thought. 76% fan rating. Impressive.
