A great film for the whole family that never gets old.

Based on a true story and starring Dennis Quaid as a high school baseball coach that is convinced to try out for the major leagues. Because the plot is based on real events, the movie is very believable. There might be a few scenes with added drama for effect, but they don’t last long or they make sense. Dennis Quaid does a great job in the lead role and is the center to the heart of the movie. I think this movie is worth your time.

Very inconsistent storytelling. Also bad craftmanship. Heavy on exposition dialogue instead of show don't tell. Often feels forced.

Solid All Around. There really isn't anything truly bad about it at all. It's very heartfelt and sincere with great performances all around. The only complaints is everything is well done just not masterful or anything other sports films like The Natural or Rocky don't do better. Also, I would've maybe liked to have seen more characters to add more depth at times because of how simple the plot is but Quaid does a good job overall of carrying this film! Anyone who is a fan of sports films or Quaid should give this a watch for sure!

This movie was so boring and I honestly have no idea why it's rated so high. We stay on the same character throughout the whole movie and we never see anything else. Just a boring western area where some random guy knows how to play baseball. I would stay away from this movie.

The acting is good but the movie is very boring. I guess being a non American I found it hard to be entertained by a movie about baseball

You feel like your on the journey with Morris through out the film till the climax where he finally gets to live out his dream

When I was younger I knew there was something special about this movie now as an adult rewatching this movie takes on a whole new meaning. Self doubt sacrifice and the fulfillment of a life long dream. Great film

What a story about following your dreams and never quitting, a satisfying story throughout.

watched this multiple times growing up; if you haven't seen it already you should.

A cracking sports drama about the career of Jim Morris. Absolutely loved this, the 127 minute run time flew by real quick; thoroughly enjoyable. It portrays, with extra drama I'm sure, the events of Morris' real life baseball career in a fantastic way. There's great character development right from the get-go, by the conclusion I was utterly invested in Morris. He is played by Dennis Quaid, who is superb in the role. I felt every emotion of his character, best I've (currently) seen of Quaid so far. The film does a great job at making you care for not only him, but even his high school team. Speaking of which, they did a terrific job with the casting of those guys - I felt like I was watching a bunch of real teammates; Chad Lindberg, of 'The Fast and the Furious', is one of them. Even away from Quaid and Lindberg & Co., you still have Morris' family to feel for as well. There's many characters to get attached to, but I was very interested in all of them. Fantastic stuff, I'd highly recommend you watch 'The Rookie'.

engaging enough even if it is not as powerful as it should be.

This is one of the best heartfelt sports movies, based on a real life person. A family man who dreamed of playing in the big league is now living in a small town, coaching a high school baseball team. Back in his younger college days he had the chance to go pro but unfortunately a should injury ruined his chances. You will have to see what happens next. This movie is one for everyone, even if you don't like sports.

Good ol fashioned moving story. amazing this is happened to a real person. I really enjoyed the buildup and it had all the elements to build up the main characters and the struggles to choose reality or his dreams. I fully enjoyed it especially the end.

This is a must watch movie for a baseball fan especially during this time of staying at home waiting out the Covid-19 crisis. Dennis Quad and Rachel Griffins are very good as Jim Morris and his wife. There are a few scenes that could have been cut and the movie is a little slow in spots but the movie also shows other life experiences other than baseball. The relationship of Jim and his father show real life family relationships. If are a real baseball junkie you should watch this movie.
