Big Fish Reviews
Boring as hell. The plot is not interesting at all. 1 hour in and I wanted to quit so hard.
Captivating! ☺️ Classic Burton with a stellar cast!
I may be slightly biased because this film is filled with actors who I trust in their choices! Tim Burton brings a complex father and son story to life through his well-known magic. Jessica Lange is so believable in this movie that she brought me to tears with how heart-felt her character seemed. Ewan McGregor was a perfect fit for his role as Edward Bloom - a man on a mission to win the love of his life while simultaneously spreading kindness into the world through his endless courage with entrepreneurship and hard work. Tim Burton does a great job of making you feel like you’re in the center of a mosaic painting through the entire movie with breath taking and colorful scenes. If you’re looking for a story with true love, plot twists, and the complexities of losing a parent, watch Big Fish. (The ending is the best part.)
A heartwarming absolute must see
Easily Tim Burton's best movie
Simplemente mi película favorita.
Simplemente mi película favorita.
I tried to like it but found it a bit inane and overrated.
The cast is fantastic and the story is just so creative. I understand that this movie was Tim Burtons tribute to his fathers and, if your like me, all of our dads. The ending always has me in tears (spoiler alert) that means a lot of different things to all of us. I still have a dvd that is just important to me to have on the shelf like a great book.
This one's for the saps of the world. It is a fantastical love story complete with the magic of Tim Burton. I've watched it at least six times and cry during the last 5 minutes every time!
Just because life stories are fantastical, that doesn't mean they aren't real! When William Bloom reunites with his dying, estranged father, who he struggles to connect with due to his father's life stories being told as fantasy tales, he soon begins to understand more about him the more time he spends with him. Tim Burton expertly paints a man's life through the eyes of a child's imagination, making for a unique and visually exceptional story!
Nestled somewhere between Forrest Gump and Fried Green Tomatoes, with a sprinkle of Tim-Burton weirdness on top, Big Fish stands out as a heartwarming tale about a father’s relationship with his son, the art of storytelling, and the significance of fact vs. embellishment. Ewan McGregor sinks deep into his role and gives a lovely performance, feeling only slightly out of place against the rest of the cast’s much less eager takes (looking at you, off-brand James Marsden). Tim Burton’s fantastic directional style magically blends the over-the-top, incredible stories with down-to-earth hominess. But at the end of the day, it’s the script that makes this movie come to life. Everyone is just a little bit larger than life while managing to feel completely real and fleshed out, despite often having only a few minutes of screentime each. And as much as our intellectual sides want to relate to Will’s burning question - how much of this really happened? - our hearts take over and ask us if it really matters when such big emotions are at stake.
3.4/5. The lighting is extraordinary. And the film considers the question of how important truth vs. truthiness is when love is at play. Ewan McGregor also gives a performance that is second only to his performance in "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith." And the entire ensemble cast is strong.
Drama muito bom Conta a história de pai e filho Suas diferenças A relação em seus estágios altos e baixos!
I'm nothing like y'all
I didn't understood anything.
Lovely tall tales where fact and fiction merge for a son trying to get to know his father before he passes away. Nicely done by Burton even if not quite his most captivating movie. Bought on DVD for 50p from a charity shop. This one is ubiquitous in charity shops for some reason. Everyone must have had a copy once upon a time. Strange it took me so long to watch this film.
