Bomb the System Reviews
Ignore what you've heard bad about this movie. Some writers might be upset that the movie doesn't go too into detail about actually putting graffiti up or saying that it's using incorrect terminology but those people completely missed what's good about the movie. First off, the actual presentation, filming, camera movement, effects, etc. are all extremely artistic and original. The entire movie just makes you feel empathetic for the characters. The atmosphere, the scenery, all of it. Interludes between scenes of the main character always running, just running away. The music is good too. It's all done by El-P, for anyone familiar with Def-Jux. The whole movie though, it's just amazing... So many people overlooked this. Everything is just done so brutally realistic, how the way characters react and think, how life really can just be ****ed up. It's a powerful movie and the ending is the best part. (be warned though... it's sad...)
Underrated movie with a good plot and interesting story, as well as comedic elements and intellectual tidbits that allow me to see graffiti from a different perspective. Great movie, one of my favorites of all time. Recommend it to anyone, even people who don't have much of an interest in graffiti (I don't, yet I still enjoyed it).
Was a very good story so good sad parts and a true story of the life just as good as Exit though the gift shop
pretty decent debut, but the bad actors, the unfitting 'artsy-fartsy' crap (also the forced 'trying to make it look more expensive') and truckloads of continuity errors spoil most of the fun.
This was decent. Poor production values, but the music is good and it gets the atmosphere right. If you are interested in graffiti writing you will probably like this.
Great film about the grafitti underground centering around the top rising artists and their dangerous cat-and-mouse games with the law.
Beautifully filmed. Portrays the true nature of the city. As dark and as grimy now as it's ever been.
Not since 1982's Wild Style has there been a major film concerned with graffiti art. Why is that, you may ask? Well, creating such elaborate pieces of work on city property is often considered vandalism by many authorities, which is punishable by law. But "bombing", as the artists call it, is about marking one's territory and contesting others with an artist representation of the mind; it's about communicating a social message in an attempt to gain respect on the streets. For them, it's a lifestyle. Full Review: http://www.andycarrington.co.uk/bombthesystem
A great cinematic ride through the streets of New York - and a very fitting soundtrack makes this a joy of a ride..
This movie had good and bad parts, but all in all, I'd say I liked it. I wouldn't recommend this to someone not already interested in graffiti however.
I need to watch this again but from what I remember: bad acting, worse writing, good score, interesting cinematography, bad in terms of representing true graffiti artists and bad plot holes, so until another watch-2 stars. WATCH STYLE WARS TO SEE A REAL MOVIE ABOUT GRAFFITI WRITERS.
Mark Webber and Bonz Malone are great in this film. Webber reminds me of DJ Chunk-a-Bud and Bonz Malone reminds me of Sonny the Skin (both Chicago boys I and others knew). The slang is hilarious and I felt way too connected to the characters...embarrassing, yo! The story has a bit too much drama, but there are some well-written scenes.
i love this movie if you have time pick it up and rent this bad mofo the story is about two tagers hitting up every thing it's off the hook yo
If you think graffiti is mindless rubbish then you need to see this movie. A great demonstration of the feeling and artistic depth of this artform.
This movie has a great story and shows the life of a graffiti artist at its best. I definitely recommend this to ANYONE, whether you like comedy, drama, action, or anything else.
Stylish, visually stunning, but cliche and somewhat retarded first-time feature by film school graduates doesn't really know what message its trying to get across about graffiti, let alone about its ambiguous and unlikeable characters. A couple of funny cops and jaw-dropping cinematography keep your attention, but the story is almost non-existent, the cliches are distasteful and the whole movie is ultimately immensely dull, boring and misguided. Hire the camera-guy, fire the director.
