Jarhead Reviews
Jarhead is a visually beautiful film and offers a simple message, war is moving on. Peter Sarsgaard is unbelievable and honestly matches Jake Gyllenhaal. Honestly really fun and silly probably the most low-key enjoyable "war" film.
Sad, action packed movie that shows another tragedy of war in the loss of relationships with people back home

Jarhead is a movie that shows the struggles of war. The movie does this perfectly by having no combat in the entire movie watching as one soldier slowly slips into madness awaiting combat.
The movie was interesting to say the least, not what I expected, had a few hard quotes and was funny some times but the rest was just the background music doing it's magic, it is indeed immersive tho.
🍅 8.3/10 Jake Gyllenhaal, angry, beating it 😔✊. the song choices are like 10 out of 10. a very well done movie showcasing the war in Iraq with the (air quotes) safe side of the war, and the camaraderie between soldier but also there mentality. Also, the jokes made me chuckle.
Forget what the elite, out-of-touch critics say. They never put on a uniform and kissed their family goodbye. Jarhead is one of the best war movies ever made. It’s raw, unfiltered, and paints an accurate picture of military life that most films miss. I first watched it during AIT at Ft. Sam Houston, and it hit me on a level few war movies ever do. So many films gloss over the reality of soldiers' mindsets, but Jarhead doesn’t hold back. The way it portrays the crass, tough attitudes of the Marines felt so real, I could see my own friends in the characters. There’s no doubt in my mind that actual Marines had a hand in making this film. Everything about it is dead-on, from the Jodies to the frustration, isolation, and the burning desire to kill. What sets Jarhead apart, though, is how it focuses on the internal battle rather than flashy combat scenes. It gives us a glimpse into the mental war raging inside a Marine’s head, a war that never seems to end. That’s what makes it so powerful. (This movie is a must see, especially if you're a service member, and even more so if you're a Jarhead!)
Its a really good movie definitely not the type of war movie that people are used too but it definitely is worth the time to watch.
Absolutely one of the best of the best movie. Sooo realistic and scientific movie. Got lots of information and facts.
There is one thing about this movie that cannot be missed. I can see that it worked really well on the small details.
This is absolute banger
This cast crew is different level
Whilst this film offers a great insight into the first Gulf War and provides an interesting perspective into how short-lived and stagnate it was, as a watch it's just not that gripping or satisfying. Rather, I found myself quite underwhelmed by it all; yes, that may be the entire point, but the emotional journey of the characters fails to be convincing enough to justify the slowness of the film. Pretty mediocre.
Good movie. Gyllenhaal is a great actor. Same goes for Jamie Foxx. Like his sister. Ten out of ten. Don't know why 60% rating, it is truly more like 70% but ok.
An important movie with an important milieu that was underwhelmingly done.
Pretty dang good. One minor criticism is that nothing ever actually happened. I was just sort of waiting for something to kick off and it never did. Still, pretty tight film.
This is not an action movie. This is not a fun time. This is a movie about how military service is bad for young men's mental health. A skillfully crafted bummer of a time. Not entertaining as much as evocative.
Wow that was boring.
Garbage. Unwarranted, exagerated stereotypes of the USMC.
Funny witty sarcastic violent With the grandest of ambition, in the beginning, wars are inherently absurd, violent That movie shows the stark differences and changes occurring in soldiers , from being optimistic brash young men at the beginning of a war to being realistic, sad, demotivated after the war The narrator, sprinkles his thoughts on the powerful imagery… One of the most powerful moment of the movie, Jamie Foxx and Jake Gyllenhaal, talking facing a burning oil field …
