Funny Games Reviews
I think this movie is amazing the actors and actress is great and I don’t care about the original if I don’t know the actors I’m not going to have attachment with them I don’t care it doesn’t matter to me I have to know you to see if I want you to live or not or I care about you at all people can disagree with me but it’s my personal opinion you don’t have to agree but I said what I said I really enjoy this movie and the performance I’m glad that villains one it was hard to watch the family suffer but it was good for the villains to finally win most movies now days 2025 they loses lot I really love the villains it was kind of interesting to see their interpretation and to see why they’re motivated to do something like this I have seen this movie so many times it was really good I love at the end the creepy smile wink at the end Micheal Pitt is amazing villain
Whichever version you watch, FUNNY GAMES is a taut, unflinching study in discomfort with a lingering aftertaste. The U.S. cast edges slightly ahead, but both are excellent.
Movie was so infiuriating i didn't like it.
Do not understand the low score on here. One of the most gripping movies I have ever seen. And Tim and Naomi to boot. It's making me question the collective wisdom of Rot Tot
Boring, unexciting and predictable
Brilliantly executed work
This is what I will call a disturbing film. It is not enjoyable and very disturbing.
If you want to watch a really well made horror movie, where the bad guys turn to you and ask you to ask for a bad ending, and where the victims aren't lovable but can save themselves at so many points, then this is the movie for you.
A movie that didn't age well. Still a good film.
This movie is a disgrace to cinematography. it forces the viewer to suffer, where they are constantly waiting for a relief that does not come, it is not enjoyable at all, the actions just happens and that's it, we don't get any meaningful answers as to why what happens. moreover, it cuts into the greatest value, which is the family, which is repeatedly insulted during the film. it only showed suffering and nothing else. if I could, I would destroy all copies, ban the film everywhere, and lock the director (Michael Haneke) in a prison. Shame on you Haneke, you are a disgrace to filmmaking
One can only wonder what kind of despicable coward makes a movie like this in order to entertain us. This movie is why many of us despise a Hollywood that seems determined to convince us that our moral values are unrealistic.
It is a really neatly built up horror with creepy and sinister characters but it falls oddly flat in its final few stanzas. Watched on DVD.
Haunting isn’t the most humane way possible. Amazing performances. The story throws the viewer into the movie without a choice. It’s almost as if you know what’s gonna happened and there’s nothing you can’t do about it. And THATS what’s scary. Very meta and ahead of its time
Absolute Shitshow. If you want to waste 2 hours of your time watching two sadistic pseudo intellectual guys torturing a family, knock yourself out. Frustrating 10/10, would not recommend to anyone.
What a bunch og stomach turning nonsesne. absolute rubbish. do not watch it. waste of time.
Great acting ,really tense graphic film ,had amazing potential, extremely violent,, getting one of you main villains to talk to the audience while committing murder ,is just stupid ,
I'll give this one 2 stars due to the fact that most of the movie is entertaining especially for people who love violent/traumatic horror films. However, it must be said that the plot twist is one of the biggest cop outs I've ever seen. Like it is unimaginably unimaginative, almost insluting to the viewer. horror movie nerds on reddit will swear that this is kind of the point and that this movie is phenomenal, however, I found the 'twist' to be insultingly cheap and lazy. It ruined the whole movie for me, pretty much. And this is all coming from a guy who loves horror/psych horror/thriller movies and has seen hundreds of them. If I don't even like it, then who is this movie really for?
Filmmaker Michael Haneke originally made this film in Austria in 1997. The new version is a shot-by-shot remake. It's about a home invasion of a wealthy couple and their young boy vacationing at their summer home on a lake. Two young men show up under the pretense of borrowing some eggs. What happens next is horrifying, sickening, senseless, and pointless. I won't apologize for the spoiler: After protracted scenes of torture and injury, all three family members are killed. To make matters worse, Haneke injects bits of so-called humor into the proceedings, including breaching the fourth wall by having one of the antagonists look at the camera and speak to the audience, and later, speed-rewinding a shooting scene and replaying it with a different outcome. The so-called humor is not only incongruous, it's tasteless and exploitative. This is one of the most nihilistic films I have ever seen. It literally punishes the audience. There is no point to this film other than gratuitously showing a family being tortured and killed. And the ending, which again tries to be humorous, is appalling. Do yourself a favor and boycott this film. Don't let your curiosity get the best of you like I did. I regret watching this film, and so will you.
possibly the best movie about psychologically terrorizing the audience.other than that it is BOOORING.the moment these guys walk in the house, you already know what is going to be happening throughout the whole movie.no twists , no script surprises.too bad for naomi watts fans such as i.don't bother ..
Considering that American Psycho and No Country for Old Men are two of my all-time favorites, psychopathy as a theme does not bother me much -- I do think Bateman is more of a narcissist instead of a psycho, but that's not the point. Unfortunately, this type of provocative storytelling is really hard to do well, and the vast majority of the cases fail miserably and end up corny as hell. Funny Games (US remake) is another example of bad case studies that creates tedious monsters and irritatingly boring dynamics between the predators and the prey. It sits nicely on the same shelf next to The Purge and The House That Jack Built, and you can see exactly the same type of smugness across all of them -- a sense of intellectual contempt for their audience: look at me, I kill kids on screen, surely that's enough for you? The difference between movies like Funny Games and well-done psycho flicks is one between emo high schoolers and grown-up serial killers. We get it, you are EDGEY. Now, remove the eyeliners before bed, you are staining the pillows.
