Last Night Reviews
To me, this seemed a somewhat predictable film, in terms of the plot development. I thought it must surely be based on a play but when I looked it up online, it seems it isn't. The performances are ok but its not exactly a memorable, certainly not a stand out, film and overall I'd say its ok but no more. I wouldn't go out of your way to see this, perhaps unless your a particularly big fan of Keira Knightley perhaps. Eva Mendes is ok in it too but there's little else that especially appealed to me. Its very much a film that I felt was/is aimed at upper middle class people, which is centered on morality. It made me think somewhat of the film Closer, starring Jude Law. Its not an awful film as such but its just not particularly...good either, so I wouldn't especially recommend it as such, no.
I love Kiera Knightley but this is one of the most uninteresting films I have ever seen. I didn't even mean to watch this I got mixed up with another film for my film class. Boring in dialogue, diversity, visuals, story, the whole thing literally was the most difficult to watch movie I have ever sat through, simply because it felt like I was dragged along to a business party where everyone hates both each other and their jobs.
So boring. Thought it was a nice movie to watch in a friday night, but it was a choice to regret. Lame characters and predictable story.
Some people have called the characters in this film uncompelling, however I believe that it's because of the characters' subtlety that makes them all the more resonanting. Through the different perspectives of the night, the viewer is able to peel back layer after layer off of each of the four main characters. In doing so, the characters display and reveal actual human emotion and behavior in a way that may otherwise be dramatized for the sake of entertainment in other films. Many of the characters' actions contradict with their words and beliefs - a phenomenon typical in human nature. Each time I have watched this movie, I have learned something new about the characters along with something about myself. Which characters are justified? Are any of their actions justified or okay? If I was placed in their situation, would I act differently? Overall, this movie is profound and pensive and deserves more than what it received.
A wonderful ending and a bit of profundity littered throughout, the film has incredible potential but ultimately falls short- someone needs to rewrite and reedit the Michael scenes and we might have something great.
Pretty good, very believable story of two partners. Amazing dialog, and written well. I wish it would've ended more dramatically but it's more a accurate representation of how real couples are. Even the accuracy of the difference between men & women and how they cheat is on point. Where men are more physical cheaters & women are more emotional cheaters.
One of my favorite movies about betrayal. What is worse sleeping with another person or longing for them without physically betraying your partner? What matters? What keeps us together? Is it just the years? I thought the movie was well written, beautifully acted and really thought provoking.
This movie is catered to a specific kind of audience. It's such a masterpiece. I was blown away by how good it was directed. Everything about it is subtle. You need to pay attention to catch the glimpse that's the director left here and there. One of my favourite movies of all time.
100 minutes later you will feel like you wasted your time...it goes nowhere and has a completely inconclusive ending which makes you really feel like you wasted your time!
The ending ruined a good movie, it's like they didn't know how to end it so they just didn't! They left it incomplete
Joanna and Alex's relationship is front and center and much more compelling than Laura and Michael's. It's kind of guessing game between who folds first in a night filled with temptation and regrets.
It's all about temptation and if its going to happen or not :D But I could have written a better ending..Ya rekhmeeeen :P
I can honestly say that this movie is art in the purest form. The film is subtle yet thought provoking. Keira Knightly and Sam Worthington performed wonderfully. I now understand what people mean by a film being art.
Very adult relationship drama. Well written and acted and relatable but not enough to make it memorable.
I have a girl crush on Kiera Knightley and her small sexy boobies. Tom thinks Eva Mendes looks like a man.
