200 Cigarettes Reviews
I grew up in New York and I remember when going to the East Village was the height of sophistication. This movie brings back the pointless aimlessness of nights trying to have a good time and meet someone to love (forever or temporarily). I had nights like this, so I love it. And the soundtrack is like listening to the radio back then. Eclectic and excellent. It’s not perfect, but I had some laughs and enjoyed seeing baby versions of current celebrities. Courtney Love was adorable.
A MUST watch every New Years Eve. Epic cast and fun story.
My husband and I love this movie and watch it every NYE. For me, the movie is totally nostalgic, reminiscent of my youth in the 80's. Roaming the East Village for parties. Finding dive bars. Cruising for guys. And I totally remember the Indian restaurant on E6th St. The film is a lot of fun, with a great cast and soundtrack.
We love this movie! We watch it every New Year's eve. Stellar sound track and great cast. I will never understand why this movie didn't do better. Maybe ahead of it's time. Having been a teenager in the 80s the movie just resonates with us. Thankfully I was able to get it on dvd before it vanished. This really should be a cult classic.
I think at its heart, it is a nostalgic ‘80s romp, a love letter to NYC with a rom-com vibe. I don’t usually go for rom-coms but this is different to me. Perhaps because of the star-studded cast and partying soundtrack! It’s super funny and the New Year’s Eve in your 20s energy is captured so well. It can be hard to find but is available to own on dvd (Amazon) as I write this. I watch it every NYE and is very close to my heart.
This is one of my favorite movies. True gem.
Watch this every New Years Eve, if YOU KNOW YOU KNOW... A slice of 80's downtown NYC. Altman-esque with an awesome soundtrack. SOOOOOOOOOO many now familiar faces.
The cast is fantastic but the story is not smart enough or deep enough to work.
The best New Year's eve film ever made on this Earth, costumes are just heaven and in New York you can smoke as there is no tommorrow. Loved it!
This is a movie that has a star-studded cast simply having fun and showing that what works for one person doesn't work for another. It's a really fun movie to watch when you aren't looking for a lot of thought.
Do not listen to the bad reviews. If you partied during the 80’s you will appreciate this New Years Eve comedy.
What a fun movie, I try to watch it every New Years Eve/Day (if I can remember). Great time period, clothes, music, actors. Good acting funny, fun I taped it off t.v. a go to movie for me. I don't know how many times I watched it, I'd watch it again a movie that goes to different groups of people just trying to survive the end of the year and get to the New Year good movie.
From M온라인카지노추천 Films comes the throwback comedy 200 Cigarettes. The film follows several characters on New Year's Eve 1981 as they work their way to a party in the East Village of New York City. Featuring Paul Rudd, Christina Ricci, Courtney Love, Ben Affleck, Dave Chappelle, Kate Hudson, and Jay Mohr, the cast is quite impressive. However, the performances vary, as do the character stories; with a couple of them being rather tedious and boring. Yet, there's some interesting social commentary on relationships and the struggles that young people face. Additionally, the film makes good use of the '80s aesthetic in both the costuming and the soundtrack. Partying like it's 1981, 200 Cigarettes delivers some fun times but has trouble joggling all of its characters and storylines.
A choral film about a bunch of people preparing to go the new year's eve party at a friend's place. It's funny, well done & quite well paced. Interesting.
Great movie that really grabs the time frame they were going for well. The big hair, clothing styles. I don't remember seeing this when it first came out, but I purchased a copy of it on VHS. I really enjoyed it.
