28 Weeks Later Reviews

Extremely action packed with gore and disaster with jump scares, fantastic addition.

Despite the star studded cast I felt like this film was less interesting story wise. Acting was fine, but very niche role acting. Like of course Jeremy Renner is some bad ass sniper who is a jokester but also cares etc. Same goes for most of the main roles. Where the original had a lighter, artistic, and adventure like feel, this installment felt like a dark serious film, with extra emphasis on the darkness at times. Besides the first action scene and a much later scene which is an amazingly terrifying scenario, the movie is mostly devoid of scary moments or intense action. Though it tries to have other scenes where tension is held, unfortunately the characters never really feel like they are in danger. Maybe just because its like a lot of movies with kids, you know the kids aren't going to get hurt.

"28 Weeks Later" rightfully doesn't try to be a copy & paste sequel by moving away from the story of human survival that featured strongly in its predecessor. The opening is the calm before the storm, watching survivors with no indication where the direction is going as they get ascended upon by a horde of the infected, panic sets in & the fight to live as the score from John Murphy ramps up, its ruthless. It's a bleak & meaner sequel, largely from the viewpoint of military intervention from the Americans on English soil. I forgot how stressful the containment breach in 28 Weeks Later was. It's the moment the intervention from the military knew everything was gone, with their last option being to shoot civilians & the infected to stop the virus from spreading. It's a worthy sequel.

Not as good as you remember it.

With the franchise now in the hands of other cinema professionals, “28 Weeks Later” does an incredible job of replicating Danny Boyle’s directorial style, as well as Alex Garland’s Britain of horrors. Everything, including filming setbacks, such as the original’s shaky hand cam recordings and experimenting with color and quality, have been reproduced. This sequel now includes wonderful cinematography, heightened clarity and an improved color palette. The plot of the film is entirely believable, adding to viewer suspension of disbelief. The premise is truly exciting, able to keep viewer interest thru its unexpected and heartbreaking narrative. “28 Weeks Later” is an almost flawless production! Were it not for some small defects, such as an only better-than-average script, an extremely poor soundtrack (the instrumental metal music is completely out of place), and a rather abrupt and inconsequential ending (a new type of enemy could have been introduced here), this film would have only required a deeper moral message to be counted among the great horror classics of all time. Despite these trivial issues, “28 Weeks Later” is excellence in filmmaking, and a definite must see for any Horror afficionado!

Terrible as the previous one.

The tone/ feeling of the first film that made it so good was lost in this film 15 minutes in. The beginning with Robert Carlyle when they are at the farm is the very best part, and feels like the first film. And it's all down hill from there. I don't hate it simply because I loved the first film so much, but the only redeeming part of this film is Robert Carlyle's performance

A scary film that's really scary.

I was curious to watch 28 Years Later. After seeing how disappointing both this and 28 Days Later were, I have no interest in watching the new movie. Pure garbage.

A very tense and grander sequel with the best and worst of shaky cam. It has an amazing opening sequence with the zombies invading the home and the impressive escape out of the house, through the fields, and onto the lake on boat. It’s an entertaining film that loses some steam upon rewatch with its plot holes, dumb character actions, the annoying kids, the thin plot/characters, the vague resolution, and the incoherent shaky cam fast paced editing. Interesting premise with the military legitimately rebuilding society slowly and a genuinely riveting family conflict that unrivaled the whole outbreak with a harrowing downward spiral of carnage and human morals broken with only a sliver of altruistic hope to keep humanity going by the end.

Please stop filming mindless zombie flicks for the sake of mindless zombie fans. There's enough Marvel movies and hot people in the world, and 28 days was such a refreshing piece of work. Shame.

I believe that if there was a zombie apocalypse on the planet, military soldiers would not do the same thing they are portrayed doing in this film.

"The US military is responsible for your safety." Gee, thanks, I feel much safer now. Anyways, I think this sequel is a pretty good one to the first movie of this trilogy, 28 Days Later. The camera quality is much much better, obviously, and I feel like acting was also a bit better, but god damn were some characters stupid. This could've been easily rated better if they expanded on the opening scenes, I found it to be quite thrilling.

Good movie but felt like not much happened, felt like this one could of been longer. I believe the first one was much better in my opinion

This film, the sequel to 28 Days Later, takes place six months after the initial outbreak. With the rage virus seemingly eradicated—its infected victims having starved to death—US soldiers establish a safe zone in the British Isles and begin repopulating the area with returning British refugees. However, the temporary peace is quickly destroyed when one refugee ventures outside the zone and comes into contact with a carrier of the virus, threatening to reignite the outbreak and undo all that has been rebuilt. Overall, due to the evocative returning score, unique and innovative scenes (unlike anything seen before in a zombie feature), intense, gory, and violent sequences, and the gripping, masterful opening 12-minute segment (which could stand alone as a short film and serves as a perfect reintroduction to the franchise), this movie is quite good, and although there are some very dark sequences with excessive shaky camera work and flashing images, and the film tends to prioritize large-scale action over developing or deepening our attachment to its characters (unlike the previous installment), leaving it at times feeling incomplete, and like the original, it concludes on an unsatisfying cliffhanger (one that, as of now, has been retroactively erased), I still enjoyed my time with it and while it's a step down from its predecessor, it still offers enough intriguing moments and moral depth to be a fun and successful sequel, and I'm looking forward to the new trilogy, starting with the upcoming 28 Years Later.
