A cuter, lighter mood to a Happy Madison production!
"50 First Dates" is a joint production with the two main leads' production companies, showcasing Barrymore and Sandler's filmmaking likings and instant chemistry in one fell swoop. For me, I'm not a fan of Sandler's pre-pubescent and brash humour, which can leave current audiences feeling quite insulted in respect of delicate topics or pure stupidity. But, the main UP with this film is the HEART. Everything concerning the couple feels real, genuine and rewarding with a supporting cast that really is a warm support. It's a breath of fresh air in the rom com genre yet you may still expect the typical beats that make us love them while tearing at the beloved emotional beats.

Beautiful love story, definitely worth watching!
Absolute gem of a feel-good movie. I love everything about this movie and watch it every 5-10 years. It’s a romantic comedy done right - even men will enjoy it. It’s heartwarming and hilarious. Sandler and Barrymore’s chemistry is as stellar as always. It quite possibly has the best plot of any romantic comedy ever made.
As far as Sandler movies go, this one is defintely one of the better ones and probably the best of the barrymore collabs. It's halfway decent all around but defintely has it's ups and downs along the way. Drew Barrymore is good and probably the best thing in this. she has decent chemistry with Adam Sandler but it's not anything amazing. The dialouge and direction is all pretty basic stuff. It's part Sandler comedy and part Romance with the romance element defintely being the stronger part. The humor...is one of the issues. It's alright but some jokes are so dumb and stupid. Sandler is just alright in this too and just feels like he's doing his thing playing himself. Schnieder is stupid, Astin I hope your family was unharmed in the kidnapping that forced you to be here and play a roid bro too. The setting is nice too but the direction is pretty basic stuff. The plot hits the basic beats of any romcom and it actually doesn't feel like gags just happen for the most part. There's actully relationship growth which was suprising and really helps with a cuple good laughs but very inconsistent. The climax also feels forced and like it has to be there because it's a romcom and it's the law I guess. You could remove it completely and nothing really changes. If the humor was better or removed and had better effort from Sandler/direction this would have a chance at being one of the better romcoms of it's time. Anyone who is a die hard Barrymore or Sandler fan actually may like this.
I’ve watched this movie what seem like a million times and it’s still just adorable. I only just today caught the Tommy Boy reference in it when Sandler takes Barrymore to see the brain specialist (Aykroyd) and he mentions how their facility is funded by Callahan Parts in Sandusky Ohio! 🤦🏼♀️how I’ve never caught that before is beyond me. Made me laugh so hard!
One of the best movies of all time. Sooooo soooo good. Definitely a feel good movie, makes you laugh makes you cry & makes you laugh even more. 100/10

A decently charming rom-com with cute animal ambassadors that becomes surprisingly engaging with the memory loss storyline, but gets tainted by the unintentionally creepy ending.
Sandler was always on my "nope" list but this one is great. Funny, heartfelt rom com with a perhaps predictable but still delightful ending.

My favorite adam sandler film. Very incredibly funny yet it some how a good rom-com. A good movie showing rom com can actually be funny. The chemistry from the two leads is amazing. The comedy of adam and rob is off the charts. As they say Rob snider in a non leading role is fantastic but as the lead just can't carry a movie. As a secondary character he is just great to watch.
Blech! Nothing appealing about Sandler's character and Barrymore is beautiful of course but her character is "the girl of his dreams" presumably because she laughs along with his uncharming lewdness. Seriously, I had had enough of this kind of humor by the time I hit highschool. It's juvenile, not clever, not interesting and CERTAINLY not romantic. Ugh.
really good and sad story at the same time. funny, well-acted, good plot and is still a classic rom-com to this day.
Drew Barrymore is just cute in the role. Lightweight fluff but fun.
