80 for Brady Reviews

Come on! Look at the beautiful ladies they got together! Another great film with aging ladies, life long friendships, sticking together thru hardships and doing it in style.

I really like Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, and I recommend this film to all who, like me, will watch whatever they are in, because they are in this.

I enjoyed it but mainly because I'm a Patriots fan and loved seeing a story about that particular game.

A woeful waste of talented actresses in a flat and boring movie.

You would like this movie if you’re a sports fan or love the Super Bowl. You would love this movie if you’re a big patriots fan or love Tom Brady. You wouldn’t care for this movie if you don’t like football. But I love football so it’s not a bad movie for me and I think it’s enjoyable.

Do all hangouts have to be different each time? Nothing new is offered here except your ordinary feel-good movie formulaically prompted with familiarity, coasting in amusement on the veteran quartet’s entertaining dynamical presences stirring dimensional fun. (B)

From the horror of watching 85 year old Jane Fonda’s 3rd facelift under that barbie-esc wig, to the wooden acting and a story line thinner than the producers receding hair line. This “film” was unwatchable.

I would give it zero stars if I could. Old over the hills once great actresses (except Hanoi Jane) mugging for a payday. How the mighty have fallen. Rita Moreno, and Sally Fields are sad ghosts of their former selves. Hanoi Jane should have been jailed in the 60s as a traitor. I can never forgive her. Lily Tomlin was a never been. Horrible movie maste of 96 minutes. Avoid like the plague.

Didn't know if I was going to like this but ended up loving it

It was a cheesy movie. Boring, too predictable, and over the top. I’ve never fell asleep in a comedy movie until I’ve seen this.

If you are geriatric, this movie will go down nicely with your fiber and laxatives.

This was so well-cast, from the lead actresses to the people playing supporting roles. I laughed a lot and really enjoyed the whole film. I will only believe this version of events at Superbowl LI from now on.

Some clever and funny bits. Okay overall.

I guess it didn't help that we all know that the Patriots end up winning (or rather the Falcons end up blowing it). But this felt like such a disjointed movie with a bunch of unfunny skits pasted together. I've always been a Sally Field fan, but this was beneath her. The only reason I started watching this movie was because it was set in my hometown of Houston, but after the dance routine, I couldn't take it anymore.

This is a pretty predictable film with a paper-thin plot, but it is a lot of fun. Anytime Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda appear together is great. In this instance they are joined by Rita Morena and Sally Field in the (based on a true) story of four older ladies obsessed with football and Tom Brady, who decide to go to the Super Bowl. And it is actually Field who is the funniest as a statistics obsessed maths professor.

Such a fun movie. Watching 4 wonderful actors all in their later years. Tom Brady was great!

Best movie I've seen in a long time!

80 for Brady is one of those movies that drew me in from the first trailer, as it looked like four fabulous actresses having fun in a crowd-pleasing film. I did not expect to see people (mostly men) on Twitter complain how "older women should not have sexual thoughts as we are supposed to look up to them," so I knew I had to be sat in the theater day one. Were my expectations super high for this movie? No, but I was pleasantly surprised with the result of certain aspects of the story. Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field are all delights in their roles; I looked forward to seeing each of them on screen. However, each of their characters are a little bit on-dimensional — we have the smart mathy one, the flirty one, etc. With that, each character is also experiencing and representing a different aspect of getting older. There are so many things that go into the journey of aging that we are afraid to talk about and I think this movie is at it's strongest when it focuses on those aspects. Topics discussed include not wanting to know if a disease has come back, losing your significant other, trying to find love and standing up for yourself to your partner. Even though I am not within the age range of the leading ladies, each of these topics hit me hard emotionally and you can feel the impact of those messages through the performances. This is when the film is at its strongest. The film starts to fall apart when they try to incorporate the ladies attending the Super Bowl. Now, I did not go into this film expecting it to be realistic, but it was the parts where they try to get into the game and everything that happens during the game just did not do it for me. Tom Brady also needed a few more acting lessons but the rest of the players were entertaining enough. There is not much to say past that, but all the elderly folks in my theater gasping at every moment during the game as if they did not know what was going to happen kept me very entertained.
