A Man Called Otto Reviews
Decent movie about a man that showed his carefulness towards others in acts rather then his words.
Tom Hanks is a phenomenal actor
Tom Hanks and Mariana Treviño are perfect in their roles, but the story lets them down a little in the latter half of the movie. The (occasionally dark) humor of the movie feels fresh.
Unrealistic and confusing - 97% positive reviews? Tom Hank's portrayal was very confusing. How do you immediately go from committing the act of suicide, but getting interrupted, to becoming a grumpy old man neighbor instantaneously? And this happens several times! Not funny, not heartwarming, just depressing. Had to turn it off 1/2 way through.
A generic attempt at, in an overfilled genre with a way past his prime Tom Hanks. Generic writing, predictable jokes that fail to land, and a phoned in performance from an actor past his prime, seemingly just looking for a check and trying to stay relevant. Nothing stands out in this run of the mill, carbon copy of so many other films.
Movie that warms up as the storyline develops. Unexpectedly feel-good. Loved it!
Hanks literally crashed it but in the end the plot is predictable.
I'm just glad the cat didn't die.
Brilliant film, very touching, it really highlights the struggles of hose dealing with acute grief and depression and how the simple beauty of life and kindness can shine through and break through the darkness. I highly recommend this film , it's very well acted and a touching experience.
I have seen the original. There is no point in seeing what Hanks does with it.
How anybody could watch this movie and NOT fall in love with it belies belief. Such a beautiful story and supremely cast, it's a joy from the opening scene to the closing credits. Hanks is, as always, very believable as the belligerent central character Otto, but the scene stealing turn by the magnificent Mariana Treviño gives the film its magic, she is an absolute joy to watch and lights up the screen. I laughed, I cried, but most importantly I absolutely loved A Man Called Otto.
One of those Hollywood magic movies - really well-done, with totally winning protagonists, wonderful dynamics, kept us easily awake. Tom Hanks generally doesn't make bad movie picks (his character in Elvis an exception). Small pet peeve: why not show the wife in the late stages in life? As if the marital bliss, in some ways, stopped when they were young. The title in Brazil - "The World's Worst Neighbor"... actually, not so far off the mark and attracts more audience than the original title. Also unusual - in the US it was on Netflix, in Brazil on HBO...
Very warm movie! Giving a hint that we need to take care of each other…
As a miserable man myself I felt really at home with Otto to begin with. An absolute must see. A really good story.
Great Movie Really Good Pace And Storytelling That Ending Broke Me, Nothing Less To Expect From A Tom Hanks Movie 10/10 .
Not bad, but a very depressing movie. It’s definitely not a feel good or comedy movie. The 97% audience score is way too high
The original European version was far superior. This one was just flat and uninspired.
Brilliant film. Very uplifting and emotional movie. Tom Hanks was excellent in the lead role. Tears of happiness and tears of sadness all sandwiched in to an engaging 2 hour flick. Would highly recommend it!
A beautiful story but you'll definitely need your handkerchief
Gran película, emotiva y optimista, con personajes entrañables y un humor con sorprendentes tintes negros muy bien colocados a lo largo de toda su duración. Excelentes actuaciones. Sencillamente genial.
