A Very Murray Christmas Reviews
A sometimes funny, sometimes corny, but very entertaining old time style Christmas 온라인카지노추천 special. Directed by Sofia Coppola, Bill plays Bill, as always, but the very eclectic cast do a very strong and fun job of keeping up with him. George Clooney is very funny, Maya Rudolph both shows her expected comic chops and her underutilized vocal chops, Buster Poindexter (David Johanson) brings his usual welcomed and gruff vocal style to the proceedings. I could go on, but I’ve said enough already. A yearly must see for me.
Is it wierd? Yes. Idk there is just something about it that instantly made it a holiday tradition for us and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sit back, spend some time with your loved ones and enjoy the quirkiness that it is.
This is one of the more unusual Christmas specials I've ever seen. There's almost an hallucinogenic quality to the whole thing as if the creators were experimenting with peculiar substances while forming the concept of everything here. Whatever they were doing, it works for me!! This is right in my comedy wheelhouse, with countless celebrities coming in and out of the picture making brief and unusual appearances. This has to be one of the strangest and most eclectic combination of stars ever assembled for a holiday special. Murray is not a performer to whom I automatically gravitate, but when he is given strong material like LOST IN TRANSLATION or GROUNDHOG DAY, he is exceptional. This special was directed by Sofia Coppola, who also directed him to an Oscar nomination in TRANSLATION, and she seems to know how to handle him perfectly. It's an unusual hour, but it has a surprising amount of melancholy and longing that I think is quite appropriate for this time of year. It's not going to leave you in buoyant spirits, but if you grab a drink or two and sit in front of the fire, you might find it casting a rather hypnotic spell on you.
Supposedly, this was supposed to be fun and entertaining, but the terrible script makes sure it never even gets close to either.
Certainly not Bill Murray's best movie, better than Garfield, which he said he regretted in Zombieland. At the very least can be played in the background to listen to the songs, while you do something else.
I love Bill Murray and cannot think of one movie he featured in that I did not like. I love Bill Murray but this is bad. He should fire the people who convinced him to shoot this sad excuse for a movie.
Embarrassing. This is real garbage. If I were Bill Murray I'd try to buy up every copy of this and destroy the evidence.
It is self-indulgent but fun for fans.
Exactly what the rating says -- it's fresh. I'm shocked this is so panned by the audience ratings. It's a totally off the beaten modern path take on a Christmas special that more closely resembles older musical Christmas pieces from the 40's. It's not a deep attempt at anything but something very Murray (...) that builds wonderfully and has a cozy setting that exactly invokes what it portrays. This is a must-watch since I discovered it and I have trouble believing that if you like Bill Murray, feeling snowed in at home, and have ever enjoyed Christmas songs that you wouldn't enjoy this Christmas Special.
Some really good music and some not so good. It's the perfect flick to have on while visiting with your holiday guests, i.e., you can watch it, hum, sing, or ignore it & talk to real people.
A throwback to old time Christmas Specials all centered around a NYC snowstorm and the Carlyle Hotel. Bill and an ensemble cast are delightful with music, comedy, and Christmas spectacle.
Best skipped unless you're a huge Murray fan or can be entertained by celebrity cameos. Even then, it's best to skip the first 10 minutes of whining which they might have thought was 'comedy', and skip to Chris Rock's first part. Most of the celebrities are not great singers, Schwartzman being among the worst of them. It's a Christmas special, so the story is weak, and acting not great. It's not fun to watch Murray be in an old depressed mood for most of the movie. If you want Bill Murray, go watch one of his better movies instead.
I was expecting more comedy but this was pretty much a Christmas celebrity sing along that I had no problem rolling with. Phoenix appearing as French chefs was a nice touch.
What's not to love? Santa Claus wants some loooooving.....
In the spirit of classic Christmas specials (Como, Martin & Sinatra, Bing, Judy Garland) but with a genuine desire to not be so serious about it. This seems a lot of fun. It feels of a group of friends getting together for a little holiday visit. The glue holding it together is the brilliant Paul Schaefer. I truly love this.
Still fresh after all these years. Will make you laugh out loud. I only wish that it was 2 hours long.👍
Is the first, and probably will be the last, Christmas special I watch. The big Bill face on the poster convinced me, but beside his "holy" presence and Miley Cyrus in a very short skirt, the show has nothing to offer. Not particularly funny: just a bunch of people singing a bunch of song. I guess if you are into that you will like it more than me.
