After.Life Reviews

I loved this movie. Liam plays a creepy role but nails it. Christina Ricci is naked through half the movie and the little boy keeps you thinking. Is she Dead or is she Alive. Wasn't sure....

After Life is just a wonderful, thoughtful, well directed and acted series. Ricky Gervais is brilliant in his acting, writing and directing and if you have a sensitive and caring side you will definitely love this. Besides being somewhat sad, and uplifting at the same time, Gervais delivers with some very dark and serious humor. Do yourself a favor and give it a look.

I love Christina Ricci but oh my god this movie was so bad it was painful. Her acting was shockingly bad - the psychological premise was interesting but the writing, acting and everything was awful. Ugh

So, what you think is what you think. She is obviously still alive. Everyone watching is waiting for the tense discovery and escape, but it never comes. The ending is rushed, over in 10 minutes, and she doesn't escape, and her boyfriend never discovers the truth. It's a sad ending for no reason other than to be edgy I guess, but it just leaves you annoyed. Plus, parts of the story make no sense. The whole movie is a bit amateurish. Everyone is whispering for dramatic effect and scenes are drawn out, because they don't have enough money for more scenes. It is a good idea for a psychological thriller done badly with a bad ending.

Cool concept but the main character is an idiot and we don’t get enough backstory about her. Also her boyfriend is the most awful person ever.

This could've been an amazing movie. It had all the things it needed. Except a happy ending. Or even at least a decent one. Nobody likes a movie where the main character can't even get the slightest justice.

The movie was ok and had a decent storyline. Also is entertaining and makes you want to know what's going to happen but it has a dumb ending in my opinion.

It is easy to figure out which main character is honest and which is a murderous liar less than halfway through, however that does not detract from the thrill. Instead it adds to it and gets you hoping the intended victim can finally see the truth and escape.

Yo, this was BAD! I like watching bad movies, but this was just intolerable. Christina Ricci stars as the most naive person on Earth.

Why did these A-List actors sign up for this? A mortgage? It had to be the money. It's a shame because a better script could have made a good movie…

A movie you can't really judge on face value and must interpret the themes and messages of this movie.

I liked this better than most it seems. It was spooky and suspensful.

This is not like any horror movie you've seen nor will see. It's not really scary, but creepy. It's really a 3.5 to 4.0-star movie, but because Christina Ricci was pretty much nude throughout, which was worth at least 1 more star. The reason there was an issue with the movie was with Justin Long, which is not a good actor, to begin with, and then he just comes off as insincere in all his roles... a horrible choice. Liam was awesome and perfect for this role...I LOVED seeing Christina Ricci's boobs all the time, they are magnificent.

This movie is better than the ratings suggest.

This is a FANTASTIC movie. I have read some of the reviews and I get the sense some didn't get it. This is a mild spoiler review but in vague terms with few specifics. Given that, I am taking the time to throw my 2 cents in so others hopefully enjoy this movie as much as I have - so much so that a sequel would be very welcome. My interpretation is that Liam is an Angel of Death to assist in the transition of souls to move on. He "acquired" this gift begrudgingly, hating being subject to those that don't cherish that which they have but he does not. Yes. I would posit that although he can and does "work" among the living, he doesn't enjoy it. Probably from a failed life he once had himself long ago. Who knows what powers other than just communing with the dead he may have, like many other things in this movie, is open to speculation, but these "clues" that are often discussed may simply be perception of a viewpoint - what one sees through their own heart, the chains that bind us to the living realm. As an Angel of Death, he must offer the souls a chance to move on - one direction or another, or even another - if and only if they come to grasp the truth of their own reality. That is the covenant by which he has been bound, to make the offer. To prepare them. For one destination, or another. You could see a glimpse of compassion prior to Liam's offer, before he opened the locked door back to life. Then as justification for his contempt for his own situation, he goes off on her. The "drug" clues I feel are mere perception observations from a perspective of strong desire or fear. I get the feeling Liam never lies, or if he does it's in his own way of showing mercy. The additional powers I referred to? Remember when he said you don't have much time? That wasn't to save her. It was to save himself (the boyfriend) And a lot of this movie is rooted in the saying, "we see what we want to see" My belief is that Ricci's body never left the table at any point. Only her soul. Try watching with that lens on and the movie takes on a whole new meaning and yes a sequel would be VERY welcome - perhaps further fleshing out what other powers a soul "gifted" to be an Angel of Death may have ...
