Aftersun Reviews
Emotionally devastating. So powerful, so raw, so gorgeous. the cinematography, the direction, everything revealed such a nugget of emotional truth, a portrait of someone fighting against their darkness, and leaving human consequences of their choices.
Honest, moving film with superb acting
Beautiful yet sad. Actors were incredibly talented.
This is a fine movie. Touching. A bit quiet too.
Great scripts and lead performances.
Fascinating relationship between a father and daughter.
Beautiful way to tell this story. Wonderful, natural performances from father and daughter.
Well it didn't click with me I appreciated the semi autobiographical view. The two leads have undeniable chemistry but the story moves at a snails pace never truly sucking me into the story. Was like watching little vignettes of bigger scenes that never truly got played out. Might like it more on a rewatch with subtitles but as I sit in my car 15 minutes after the showing I'm left with an overwhelming sense of mehness but with the knowledge that this is definitely worth watching.
Captured the feeling of being 11 years old beautifully. It took some time to figure out what was going on with the father--was he suicidal? A binge drinker? It was ambiguous, which I guess is fine, but it left me wondering if this was just an adult's memories of an important time in her life, or was it a eulogy to her departed father?
Aftersun is a small, beautiful, sensitive film.......
Slow, but great acting and direction
One of the best of 2022. Sneaks up on you. Mescal is fantastic.
