Alien: Romulus Reviews
very fun and scary, feels like going into a haunted house but in space. the gore is there and the acting is amazing! definitely recommend.
Definitely a movie for the young, easily entertained with low expectations. When I saw windshield wipers being used on a vehicle traveling at escape velocity I knew this movie was made by and for the not so bright.
BRILLIANT! Added to Collection!
It's worth every penny to see in the theater! It didn't waste time getting to the action, and the practical effects were superb 👌
This is a fantastic film. It's more of a standalone entry, but it works as basically a soft reboot of the series, as we have new characters dealing with the Xenomorphs, as well as an introduction to a colony owned by Weyland-Yutani, seemingly, where we briefly see more of their corruption with them extending Rain's quota to 24,000 hours. It's a great film overall, and there's a lot to say about it. I've said a bit of the story already, but the main plot is that the alien from the first film was recovered and researched, leading to a bunch of aliens being born and one of them attaching to one of the main characters, causing another Alien problem. It's a simple plot that works well, and it never gets old seeing a new group having to deal with the Xenomorphs. It's just a very fun film that ties most of the franchise together, as it has references to Prometheus via the black goo and Alien via the actual alien, as well as minor references to the other films, and it tells its own story. The main characters also go into cryosleep at the end, giving us a chance to have a sequel that shows where they wake up. The Xenomorphs were great in this, too. They're as they are usually, with it following the Aliens approach of having a reveal where there's multiple Xenomorphs. But the best part, when it comes to the Aliens, is the Xenomorph and Human hybrid at the end which is basically pure nightmare fuel. It's very well done and feels like something from a Cloverfield movie. It's at the very least better than the Newborn from Resurrection. But it's amazing. Overall, a great Alien movie. It's less connected to the others, but it works as a nice standalone entry in the series.
The amount of practical effects in this movie is insane. It's beatifully made and the performances are great.
Visuals were really good, premise was pretty good as well. Major failure on casting. All of them were so predictable and cliche. Dialogue was lame at times and everything felt so predictable. Typical Hollywood failure.
6.3/10 — "Okay"/"Watchable" -(Seen on 4/19/24)
Alien Romulus I really liked the movie I'm waiting for the sequel I give it 10/10
Captures the feeling of the original, with a modern twist. I’m not sure what more you could ask for in a modern day alien movie.
The Alien franchise as resurrected once again. “Romulus” takes the DNA structure of the original to expand on its horror routes. Starring a cast in their 20s was a smart move as it assisted their personal stories of starting over for a better life really well. VFX are absolute killer, both CG and practical are overall solid with an exception. Just like the original, the “fourth” act takes a pretty bold turn that has director Freddy Alvarez’s touch written all over it, man was he the right person for the job!
Nothing new here , but lots of great call backs to the OG titles
If you have an IQ over 110, you wont like this movie...
It looks good at times but it is soulless. It's like someone trained an AI with Alien(s) and let it write the script. It's an empty husk of what made the first two movies masterpieces. Too much talent wasted on a talentless script.
This film is hugely let down by casting. Andy is the only compelling character in the bunch the rest are awful. The guys in particular are so cringey that it hurts. One of them hates synthetics but his delivery is like something you might expect from a sixteen year old in their end of year play. A huge production with a bombastic story that just feels dull and lifeless throughout. It's not enough to just blandly throw out the F word when trying to express an emotion. Not the worst Aliens film ever made but instantly forgettable.
From the beginning, I enjoyed just about every minute of Alien Romulus. The photography, the music, all go together well. Some of the personal drama got a little 'boggy' but still, it's a rare movie that doesn't go astray in these side steps to slow, and pace the action. I absolutely loved the resurrection of 'Ash' in the form of 'Rook'. Every scene with Rook tickled my memories of other Alien movies, and I enjoyed his weird perspectives, along with his dialogue.
Not sure what movie people were watching, because this entry bored me more than Prometheus. This would have been better as a 온라인카지노추천 series. Too much jammed into the run time to make you care about anyone. Massive plot holes everywhere, and an ending that is clearly hoping for a sequel. The transformation of Andy was the most interesting part of this movie, but even that fell through by the end. Give it a watch if there is nothing else on. Just do not expect the tension of the first Alien movie, nor the action of the second. This was just a movie.
Back to the good stuff. Follows the tried and true Alien formula, feels like a soft-reset, and includes probably the creepiest Alien creature yet. Well paced, pulls out the proper emotions at the right times, and never feels contrived. More of these please.
Decent but not compelling mashup between Alien/Aliens and any slasher movie you've ever seen. Not a lot of depth. The alien spawn at the end was potentially interesting but missed the mark, and the death of its "queen" was lackluster. Sigourney Weaver was a strong actor who supported a franchise. That just didnt happen here. The formula for the murderous onslaught against unwitting teens is well known, and this barely veered from that. Alien, on the other hand was much more than that.
Now this is an Alien movie. Vibes are similar to the first Alien movie for a time.
