All About Steve Reviews
This movie has gotten a lot of pans. They missed the point. It was all just fun - silly fun. I'm so glad I hadn't read the reviews before seeing it because it was silly, delightful fun. Soap bubbles. Just fun. Don't expect deep insights though there are a couple, but that's not the point. It's just fun. Like cotton candy at a fair, or hot fresh pretzels from a street vendor. They don't even pretend to be nutritious, but they are delicious and fun. Have fun.
So laugh out loud funny!!! Proof you should never read mainstream reviews. What a wonderful film. I cried many times I laughed so hard. Sandra and the cast were just brilliant. Enjoy
Horrible, the movie meanders with no sense of clear story direction. The main character is supposed to be "quirky", but it comes off like she has mental disorders, and she is cringey, ots in especially poor taste how they play it tor laughs. Oh yes they play her mental disorders for laughs and they whiff every time, only one time did they get a laugh out of me and it was Ken Jongs coming to Jesus moment on the knuckle heads in the van. The most likable character is the reporter they have slated as the villain. He and Sandra bullocks character have actual chemistry and he seems to kind of appreciate her, once she lets go of Bradley cooper's character, a line of how reporter guy was trying to get them together because he thought Brad was an idiot to let her go, could have set them up with a relationship. They chekov gun the fact she's gonna end up with a man to accept her, but then just don't deliver. The sympathetic villain and her getting together in the end could have been a very good subversion of expectations. Instead they give us a generic accept your quirks and be yourself message, but underlay that with a message of she's gonna do what our message is, but likely end up all alone and that's just a really bad message that totally undermines their greater point. I sometimes wonder why we can't leave 0 star reviews, I'd say thus gets a .5/10 not a 0 because I did laugh once, but I'm still forced to give it a 10% instead of a 5% just to tell you why it's horrible. Go watch it for yourself, perhaps your feelings will be different, but remember I'm warning you it's going to not be a good movie.
From the reviews, it is easy to think All About Steve is a bad movie but I would like give a different perspective on this flim, one of my favorite movies. It is clear that Mary is a person who is considered "different", at first she seems like the typical romcom female trope, focused too much on her work, beautiful, quirky, and of course clumsy. The movie seems to be set up to be the usual rom-com but subverts those expectations when Mary slowly stop centering men and sees her value as her own person. It's great.
This is the worst movie I have ever seen.
This movie is too painful to watch. I am utterly surprised that Sandra Bullock read the script and continued on with the filming of this movie. I was wondering why it did not ring a bell when I saw it appear on HBO max. I will just say watch anything else. This movie was terrible.
I just don't know what the critics are thinking. This movie is really funny. Mary is such a great character, with so much energy you just gotta love watching her as she chases down her dream date. There is never a dull moment either, as the story develops at a pace, following a chain of major breaking news events around the US. The comedy is good too, with lots of satire flowing from the wacky situations they encounter. I particularly enjoyed the truck driver and the leggers and anti-leggers at the hospital. This is a good movie, with lots of originality and it really deserves a better review rating.
I think it's a heartwarming loveable movie , I don't understand people's beef with it. It's also hilarious
Terrible. Just terrible. Not much more to say about that.
Actual funny bits only through Thomas Haden Church's honest presence to mutual nondiegetic extent and Ken Jeong's one momentous redemptive curve, while others tried hard over the poor writing that dampened any narrative intentions or any comedic efforts alongside poorly-designed embodiment of a charming stance that only genuinely sour. Bad movie with a great cast. Disappointing
Sandra's acting is nomination worthy and there is a sweetness to the story that is totally buried by how uncomfortable we are watching socially/mentally challenged people. This gets panned but 온라인카지노추천 show Monk gets praised even though it makes fun of his mental illness. The difference? Monk isn't a realistic character while Sandra's character could be.
Watching this now in 2022, it is absolutely a joy. There's no one else like Sandra Bullock, with impeccable comic timing. Enjoyed the movie tremendously!
I watched this for the first time, and let's just say that it is 1.5 hrs of my life I will never get back, and it makes me sad. I am shocked and saddened that Bullock and Cooper would stupe so low! Did someone blackmail them into this horrible film? Indeed neither of them willingly chose it, right? If you haven't watched it, keep going... Hallmark and its predictable storylines are more entertaining!
Not as horrible as the reviews would make you think. Bullock does her darndest to neutralize her most potent weapon: her charm, but it doesn't completely work thank goodness. The plot is bizarre - Sandra Bullock is a shut in nerd with no friends and an annoying personality. She becomes infatuated with Bradley Cooper and follows him around the country in a Gremlin. I guess the idea is that stalking is cute or something? It isn't a great movie or anything, but the audacity of the whole thing might be worth a watch.
The protagonist is woman who's main quirk is that she annoys everyone she encounters with her incessant babbling. The audience is subjected to an hour and a half of it.
This wasn't quite as bad as critics made it out to be, though there were obviously some problems. I liked the extensive cast of people I'd seen do comedy before, particularly Haden Church as he's a highly underrated actor and had some of the best lines in the movie. I also liked the multilayered character that Bullock played as I'm a fan of crossword puzzles myself, but therein also lay the main problem with the movie as they didn't give the character a simple enough plot to work her way through, instead having her zigzag across the country chasing a guy who didn't want her. If they had placed her in a different movie she would've been great but with most of Haden Church's jokes indirectly stringing her along on what was a far too grandiose scale to be realistic it made her come off as illogically desperate, bordering on mental illness. There really was nothing wrong with the character herself, and even the lessons she learns along the way were fine, they just deserved a more appropriate context. The other problem with the plot being so thick was that their jokes per minute rate went ignored so as to chew through the screenplay in a timely manner while still making room for the heartwarming stuff at the end. It's a shame, really -- I hope one day they make another comedy starring a crossword puzzle designer and really do the character justice.
