All of Us Strangers Reviews
Adam Scott deserved an Oscar. All four actors made this film of Haigh a master work of art.
Una fantástica historia, del amor, sufrimiento, luto y lo complejo que es la mente. Una película satisfactoria en todo sentido.
Muito emocionante! O filme é rico em simbolismos e camadas emocionais.
An absolute insult to the fantastic novel. Although it's interesting to see how they incorporated changing the setting from Japan to the UK, in the end it greatly weakens the heavy atmosphere that drives so much of the book. Making it a vehicle for politics regarding homosexuality is pretty much just kicking the original writer in the nuts. I hope they had the decency to pay him well, at least.
Everyone here is just absolutely phenomenal.
This movie is like a cure for the soul.
Never have I ever dropped my jaw as often as I did when watching this film… There are no words to describe how fantastic this film is.
This is such a beautiful film with incredible performances by all of the actors. It's one I thought about for a long time afterwards. Quietly powerful and absorbing.
I did not get a club of what was going in… but then when all pieces fit I was even clueless yet I could not take my eyes off of the movie. It was attention grabbing from the word go. I am still thinking about it and I watched it two days ago.
I love it when a movie seems to have a simple premise, no fancy budget, yet manages to make you care so deeply about the characters that your heart hurts when the credits roll. With only 4 actors, and mostly set inside 2 homes, this movie delivers so many emotions, a real cathartic experience. Andrew Scott is an incredible actor whose every facial expression haunts you - he should win every award.
One of the most touching movies I‘ve seen for quite some time (or ever even tbh). Incredible acting and great storytelling
One of the most beautiful and heartbreaking films I’ve ever seen. It’s never left me. The power of love a force from above ❤️
What a beautiful haunting film.
A movie that left a lasting impact that really got me thinking about the power of grief for days after watching. MUST SEE!
Stunning film those who have lost someone they loved will understand it
so emotional and beautiful film.
I loved this movie, but you don’t have to even like it, to be entertained. The acting is subtle and powerful. Any doubts that Andrew Scott is one of the very best are smashed.
All of Us Strangers sticks with you. It’s an affecting story concerning the terror of loneliness. Adam (Andrew Scott) and Harry (Paul Mescal) appear to be the only tenants of a modern apartment building in London. We don’t know if it’s a modern phenomenon or not, but Adam’s childhood trauma of losing both of his parents in a car accident at the age of 12 has stifled his social life — his work-life as a screenwriter is a means to an end (survival), not an artistic passion or even expression. Harry is hurting, you grok it immediately, and Paul Mescal carries this pain with him unlike any actor I’ve seen in quite some time — it’s significantly more poignant than his Oscar-nominated performance in Aftersun. The movie is sparse in characters and conventional drama. There are hints of horror, but nothing materializes in that regard to the film’s benefit. There are not one, but two scenes that may leave you in a puddle. It’s still a relatively new movie, and only recently sent to streaming — I can’t imagine this put many butts in theater seats — so I’ll refrain from spoilers. I will say I’ve been humming and singing Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “The Power of Love” for the better part of a week now. The title of the song speaks volumes.
An average drama that may not be for everyone.
I was not expected how sad this movie was going to be. The depths of trauma and neglect explored are capped only by a somewhat expected twist you just keep hoping will not come true. But it does 😭 #emotionaldamage
