Always Shine Reviews
My review contains spoilers!! Story is a bit convoluted, but the truth is, a movie about a young failing actress going to her rich family's fancy cabin in the woods to kill herself probably wouldn't hold the audience's attention, so the thriller elements falsely increase the stakes. Relevant thematically though and the actresses were both great.
You might find the deliberately ambiguous ending disappointing at first, but this gripping slow burn will stay with you long after it ends.
This was just sad. Not much of a horror move. I wouldn't recommend seeing it.
The tension was palpable. But I hate blurry endings.
Lots of captivating subtext builds the tension between the two leads and creates an entertaining ride.
I would have enjoyed watching my wall more.
Awful film from a director who film studios must at some point realise is absolutely useless at making films.
This is the definition of pedestrian. While not terrible, it's nowhere near good. The acting is only as good as the dialogue, which is bad. It doesn't delve into anything or go anywhere surprising. It's middle of the road. Getting someone who can write words that people would actually speak would have been a good place to start.
This film is worth it just to watch Mackenzie Davis work. She has an intensity she just cannot turn off.
Pointless. Totally, absolutely, consummately Pointless. Never was a movie so overrated by the critics. What movie did they watch because it could not have been this pointless waste of 2 hrs of one's time.
Absolutely the dumbest, most nonsensical movie ever made. Two hours of my life I burnt and will sorely miss.
Really great movie! Psychological thriller with a great performance by Mackenzie Davis. I was on the edge of my seat!
A good film that had so much potential to be an amazing psychological thriller. It took the plot a fair distance then stopped vs going further and having some twists. The acting is pretty good especially for an indie. The cinematography is gorgeous at Big Sur.
boring, dumb, and makes no sense.
