American Hustle Reviews
Brilliant script, direction, and cast
Pretty good rendition of a true story, dramatised. Were it not true-ish, you couldn’t believe it. Cooper gets the very best scenes, but all are good.
How amazing is Amy Adam's 😲
tired conman story with a lot of flair
The film's promise is backed up by a brilliant cast, and we're kept on our toes by the performances of the cast, with Christian Bale always on top form, and a film full of twists and turns. I often tend to get bored with American films, but I really enjoyed watching this one. I recommend it 🚀
With its dazzling star-studded cast, steady and mature narrative pace, and a constant undercurrent of humour, American Hustle is a vibrant masterpiece in the heist genre.
What a fake mess with endless talking.
A fantastic movies with stellar acting throughout.
This is just an all around great movie with amazing actors and a great story
Too good for you. Some more discerning critics sought comparison, which I think is unnecessary. Director David O. Russell brings us a good story showing how there are people who use their intelligence to deceive people. And how there are people who are easily deceived by the moment of despair. As there are thiefs who deceive thiefs (and no 100 years of forgiveness.). And how there are individuals who deceive themselves. The plot holds our attention from beginning to end and all the actors are impeccable in their roles. I would say that the plot deals with the matter in a light way, because in real life the consequences could be much worse, but it is not impossible that it will not end like it does here. Christian Bale “is the name”, being the protagonist and the best in acting followed by the others. And the soundtrack is very well selected. I liked it, it's light and with homework to reflect on: how much is it worth cheating and lying without falling into cheating?
Very slow and boring movie. You keep waiting for something interesting to happen and then the end is disappointing. It's a more of a movie about cheating spouses than anything else.
High-budgeted comedy. I like con films and I liked the soundtrack and the actors. It's entertaining too.
This film was awesome. I love movie set in the 70s. Much better than films made in 2023, in 2024!
This was a painfully boring movie composed of very talented actors. It's not worth your time
Interesting to say at least
I watched this on DVD recently, and enjoyed every minute of it. The attraction of the film is in the depth and relatability of the characters it presents. The cast are first rate performers, and grabed my attention in every scene. The experience is so absorbing it's like I became part of the story and was living amongst them. The late 70's timeline also works remarkably well, and despite the complexities of the hustle, times are simpler and uncluttered without our contemporary technology. In general, I thought the plot was very good, but I found the FBI agent a little too OTT to be believable, although enjoyable and amusing. There were some cut scenes on the DVD, two of which show musical home karaoke type scenes performed by Jennifer Lawrence which were quite entertaining, if a little too long! Over all I think this is a good movie and worthy of strong recommendation.
this film is awful. it is really pretentious
This is a scam that'll leave you in stitches and in pieces, thanks to it's impressive cast of complex characters and delightful dialogue. Caught in a sting operation by the FBI, two con artists attempt to stay ahead of trouble as they try to stay ahead of the opposition. The dark side of the American dream is shown with a whimsical twist on this real-life crime caper!
So boring. I had no interest in the story at all
