American Underdog Reviews
I personally don't understand the critics who reviewed this film negatively. I keep seeing the words "cliché" "predictable" and "corny" I mean yeah it's predictable because it all really happened and many of us watched it happen live. Being from Nashville Tennessee and a Tennessee Titans fan made it difficult for me to get around to seeing it, Kurt Warner handed The Titans one of the most heartbreaking losses in Superbowl history. I can still see Warners incredible, 73 yard TD pass to Issac Bruce with less than 2 minutes left in the game....in my bad dreams....I remember it like it was yesterday.....my mother became a huge Titans fan during their debut season in Nashville during their improbable march to the Superbowl......she passed away from lung cancer just a week before The Superbowl, on January 23rd 2000, the morning The Titans won the AFC Championship against Jacksonville in total blowout fashion. Because of my personal circumstances it made that Superbowl loss incredibly hard to handle. Titans had tied the game with 2 minutes left, and Warner and The Rams stepped on the field ready to eat up the time on the clock and slowly go downfield to get in field goal range for a last second kick but Warner shocked everyone with his 73 yard bomb right on the first play.....and I remember it vividly, it was like watching that pass in slow motion. After that I obviously held a grudge on Kurt Warner for nearly 25 years.....and now after watching this I am disappointed I'm myself for not paying more attention to an incredible, improbable story like this. Anyone who doesn't enjoy this has a cold heart and obviously doesn't understand professional sports. 5 stars goal. But instead Warner shocked the entire world with that amazing
Powerful movie . Predictable yeah because its true . Great casting , direction , camera work , locations and script . I thought the acting was right at home . Hit me with a feeling of strength and truth and love . Just what I needed today .
Entertainment inspired by the life of the famous American football player, Kurt Warner, which tells us remarkable and (very) moving moments in a simple but beautiful way, in which Warner always remained intact, no matter what the challenge, how painful the defeat was, how enormous the fall, he always believed, he always maintained the faith of a champion.
An amazing story of persevering and finding success and then the unlikely sequence of events that created a champion. A sports/love story that is hard to believe but true.
Absolutely loved it. An incredible true story that’s proof positive dreams can come true. And as an added bonus, it’s a movie for the entire family.
Awesome movie and amazing story
Movie #2 in my unintentional Dick Vermeil movie marathon. American Underdog is exactly what you expect it to be. Kurt Warner's story both on and off the field is an inspiration. The best part of this movie, hands down, is Zack. Every scene between him and Kurt brought tears to my eyes. I honestly cared more about their bond than the relationship between Kurt and Diana. Some of the dialogue is out of place and clunky, a handful of the supporting cast are weak and the pacing of the film is off. That being said, it is hard to leave this film without feeling inspired. Best Character: Zack Best Quote: "He said that he was ready... and I believed him." - Kurt Best Scene: Kurt meets Zack Best Piece of Score: "Nice to Meet You Zack"
Although it follows the formulaic approach to sports biopics and is somewhat predictable, American Underdog is impactful and inspiring, owing to Levi and Paqquin's heartfelt performances that make it effortless to resonate with their characters.
I am in utter tears. Because this is a (Believe in yourself story) and you can go through the worst in life, you can have it all taken away and this story says that doesn't matter!!!!!!!!!! I hope this movie inspires and changes lives because of how impactful it is and how true it is , to will yourself to do something! You can do it, never give up, just breakdown the barriers with you mind and then in life those same.barriers will disappear
AMAZING STORY! AMAZING MOVIE!!!
Gotta pull for the underdog!
Such A Good Story
I really enjoyed this movie. One of the best sports movies I've seen.
A story that simply works and is true to it's title on multiple levels, everyone likes an underdog.
Absolutely brilliant. This is a must see film. Loved the cameo by Dennis Quaid.
This is awesome and inspiring
I tried watching this movie once before and am unsure why I bailed but I did bail. I picked it up again today and recognised I'd bailed on it previously, I pushed on through looking for a feel good film not knowing anything about the main character. I was rewarded with the full gamut of emotions that I appreciate from a good story and a good story it is, it took its time but the hardship of the slow start finally paid off.
Such an inspiring story!
