Antlers Reviews
Antlers boasts some impressive production quality which adds to its suspense. Among the film’s delights include a playful approach to dark and foggy lighting that adds to the film’s sense of entrapment.

I’m so disappointed…. Creature effects & look is awesome But it’s barley there & the movie feels itself as a drama that just never grabbed me. It’s filled with some great performances & great moments but their far and few between

Antlers is a cleverly shot, character-driven horror story with effective jumpscares and a captivating narrative that ultimately fails to reach its true potential.

The plot itself does little to provide the scares, and the entire film is completely devoid of tension and incredibly repetitive.

Antlers left me wondering if Native Americans have only one myth because this story has been filmed many times before.

The film has its moments, but it never quites succeeds as a compelling family drama, nor as a frightening piece of elevated horror.

What initially seems like a run of the mill monster movie, turns into a body horror/folk horror nightmare. Antlers pulls out all the stops to flesh out a harrowing tale that works as a reflection of some of the biggest issues in small town America.
| Original Score: 9/10 | May 21, 2022
A genuinely haunting horror movie which revels in the slightly suggested, rather than the directly depicted.

Russell imbues Julia with convincing traces of lingering trauma, but it's Lucas who rivets our attention.

Not too bad, a couple of jump scares, but not the best scary movie Ive seen. The Indigenous theme seemed a bit mismanaged, and as a Native man, believe me I am accustomed to it.

Especially considering the strength Scott Cooper has shown in the past, Antlers feels like a massive disappointment.

We have seen this too many times before to be frightened.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jan 15, 2022
The filmmaker’s propensity for brooding character studies means Antlers’ seed finds a little more purchase than the typical horror outing.

I wouldn't call Antlers much of a horror film, more like a thriller with some gore thrown in for impact.

To those who understand and know the truth about such places, the creature is the least scary thing about it; it's merely a form given to what everyone refuses to see until it can no longer be ignored... assuming there's anyone left.

Antlers is essentially misery tourism dressed up for Halloween.

...not helped by a po-faced exhuming of horror clichés...
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 19, 2021
To be honest, things only stumble if one begins to think of what sort of film was left on the table compared to the one that was released.

Although it's not a perfect movie, it's far from generic. [Full review in Spanish]

A predictable horror show that should have been so much better than it is.
