Apartment 7A Reviews
Either this film is too complex for my overthinking mind, or it was a mediocre, entertaining, well-made movie.
It does the Rosemary's story well. Very well acted too.
This is for the most part, an enjoyable film. Alas, in it's attempts to convince us of it's canonical link to Rosemary's Baby, it treads a little too much of the same ground. Much has been made of Diane Wiest's performance & mildly comedic accent - which is unsettling & a good choice. Perhaps film reviewers are too young to have seen Oscar winning actress Judy Holliday (Diane Wiest isn't too young), because it seems like an impression of her.
A solid, and scary film but not enough spark to make the best horror film.
Well performed all around with good suspense and tension that is at times uneasy in the many layers, with dreamlike hallucinatory horror among them.
There's many references by critiques to the sequel that came out five and a half decades ago and Apartment 7A sure doesn't seem to be in a competition to outdo it's successor. But it's a period drama portraying real life horrors of the unprivileged women in a time where self-esteem was subjected to a painfully tedious capital punishment. Terry's horrors are real and makes the audience uncomfortable and nervous for that Julia's sincere performance was essential. Terry's character even the slight limp was well maintained by the producers. Great work by the supporting cast too. Flawless visuals and color tones just shady enough to bring the cold of Bramford. Great audio effects and music. Apartment 7A must not close it doors after this.
This is a *prequel* to Rosemary's Baby! It’s not just a good movie—it’s a great movie. Anyone calling it dull or saying it 'doesn’t go anywhere' clearly isn’t thinking about the bigger picture. This film is setting the stage for what’s to come, and it does so brilliantly. This movie doesnt end here, you need to then watch Rosemary's baby! I absolutely loved it. And that ending? Completely badass, and almost poetic.
Ok I loved this movie but thought it would have been SO BADASS if she finally gave in and embraced the fact that she’s birthing satan and fed off of the power and love of the “evil people” and suddenly they became the safe ones to her.
Kinda wanted to see a demon birth but I guess I’ll have to watch the Democratic National Conventjon instead
Excellent story and acting! A great watch overall.
I am not someone who regularly writes reviews on RT. However, once in about 75-100 films, I am compelled to. Either due to how over or underrated a film may be. This falls into the latter, massively underrated. I have no desire to write a synopsis, or to say anything more than, if your IQ is 3 digits. You'll enjoy this. Garner is a generational talent. I don't mean to sound hyperbolic, but everything I've seen her in, was watchable. This is more than watchable, it's great.
Had no clue this was prequel to Rosemary's Baby. Soon clicked with the high pitched voice of friendly neighbour. A good plot and cast deliver. Not as claustrophobic or haunting as original but the film delivers on many levels.
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE OMGGG i think this is an amazing way of changing the way the original novel narrated the storyline i loved the way some sequences were made and the way it made me feel THIS ISN'T A RECREATION OR REMAKE OF ROSE MARY'S BABY UNDERSTAND THAT
Not bad but probably better understood if you saw "Rosemary's Baby". But then, you'd know how it will end.
The movie is great, but to understand it fully, I would recommend watching Rosemary’s Baby (1965) first and then watching this movie.
A good suspenseful movie if you enjoy the occult and conspiracy theories. The acting is good although I'd really hoped that there would be some more lore exploration from the protagonist. If you are over 30 years old, remember Rosamary's baby? It's the same movie.
Enjoyable prequel with a clear path to the original. Some nice moments
I thought this was a solid movie and really enjoyed it! Similar plotline to Rosemary's baby ..but it makes sense knowing Minnie and Romans goal. Great acting! A couple of Easter eggs from the OG Movie.
Was hoping for so much more out of this. Great acting but overall boring and not scary plot that goes nowhere.
