giddy, childish, and unrealistic. the perfect recipe for a silly summer romcom for teens and tweens.

One top reviewer says something along the lines of “this movie is for eight-year-olds.” Oh well, there isn’t anything spectacular about the movie — but it’s entertaining and it’s good, clean, old-fashioned, childlike fun. The kind we’ve gotten un-used to these days, sadly. If you’ve lost touch with your inner child — don’t bother with this one!

One of my favorite childhood movies that I absolutely love. It's cheesy and has corny moments but it's for kids not really meant to entertain the adult eye.

I can see why it's has low ratings, it's certainly isn't up for any Oscars but to me it's iconic. I watched this when I was young but as an adult still have love for it. It's definitely a comfort movie of mine. It's a movie about magic and sisterhood and the way all young girls obsess about their crush and how to win him over. It's a memory of youth. It's fun, quirky, awkward, and cute. For me this is up there with mean girls and freaky friday, an unserious look at girlhood and the complexities of being a teenager.

A nice uplifting movie - probably more for adolescent girls but I enjoyed it too.

This movie was one of my favorites growing up, I was 10 going on 11 years old when it was released. I often see this movie being bashed by reviewers, although the people who hate on it are way over the target age group. Of course it wasn't made to please 30 year olds, so it seems very silly and cringe to anyone born before 1995. But my memories of watching this movie with my sister are so nostalgic; in 2006, every young girl wanted to be a mermaid, or be best friends with one. This movie has a unique personality, and when you're going through that very awkward phase of life where one transitions out of childhood into tween years, feeling like a "fish out of water" is the best way to describe it. This movie makes a literal metaphor out of that uncanny childish feeling, while being fun and heartfelt at the same time. 10/10

It is a bit too boy crazy for its own good, but the film is cute, and Jojo is surprisingly effective.

Such a nostalgic movie. It really is cute. Am I biased because I watched it when I was young? Of course. But its really sweet and has a great message of friendship. It actually emphasizes the friendship more than the romance in the end which is also refreshing. Plus it has nice performances from the cast.

Aquamarine is a film tainted with Hollywoodized perversion. It was created by the sexist, racist, and cut-throat company 20th Century Fox. Nobody decent made this film. They're all sellouts. Hailey Rogers is a selfish grumpypants who doesn't want her mom going to Australia. Claire Brown is an immature girl who reads brain-rotting magazines that promote foolish behavior while calling that foolish behavior "cool" and calling Cecilia Banks a sand-witch instead of doing something badass. Cecilia Banks is intentionally the dumb blonde character with a narcissistic superiority complex. Aquamarine acts like an ignorantly entitled child who demands love. Which demanding love comes off as a red flag to me instead of being funny or cool. Raymond is the only character I kind of liked in this film because he doesn't act like a desperate damsel in distress thirsting over someone else, narcissist with a superiority complex, or an entitled child demanding love. Raymond actually acts cool rather than obnoxious in this film. This film tries to come off as funny. But it's just socially awkward with obnoxious characters who aren't cool to me except for Raymond kind of. I can imagine impulsive consumers from America being gullible enough to watch this without much critical thinking in the past. So, I wouldn't be surprised if this film got ridiculous awards from those pretentious award shows awarding mediocrity to stroke celebrities' precious egos.

Marcou minha infância. Além de ter JoJo no elenco.

It's funny that the "critics" can give an art-house movie with a questionable plot, mediocre acting, and a low budget a high score (like the 2020 "the invisible man"), and totally pan a tween movie not meant for critical analysis. For a tween movie, it moves along just fine and I enjoyed watching it with my daughter. As always don't pay attention to the critics and just check the audience score.

Curious approach was enough to compel before finding its true direction in addition to its predictability by amusing nature being ridiculed for tween fun then seeking a forgettable message that would stick to those that emphasizes which is mainly the targeted audience aged around girls. (B-)

Decent watch, could watch again, and can recommend, but more so for younger audiences. This is a fun, coming of age story mixed with some cryptid / fantasy. Being that this is a teen girl movie, there is a lot of focus on boys and social interfacing. Surprisingly, one of them being a mermaid has very little to do with it. Its centered more on the main characters being younger and odder than the core group they want appreciation from. It could have easily been an all human movie, but I think they made Sara Paxton a mermaid to help with her being the "unbelievably beautiful" character that they think America wants. Its a little vapid for me, but I'm sure people in the target demographic relate to it, and its honestly written really well with plenty of character growth.

Best movie ever, if you like the fantasy and a little bit of mythology, Aquaramarine is the best option for you. The theme of teen romance, true love and mermaid wishes are the objective of this short and simple movie, the type of people that should watch Aquamarine are teenagers and maybe child, because the plot represent the stages in youth and the big decisions you have to make, also the plot is perfect if you want to know how to find your true love in days ! If you watch this film you will feel very happy and impressed ,it has the perfect scenes and actors.

This movie keeps it simple and gets lost in mediocracy.
