Arizona Reviews

A good movie. It IS a dark comedy. Not like a laugh out loud one but very amusing and just an interesting tale. It's worth a watch for sure but isn't going to win any Oscars anytime soon, lol.

I thought Danny McBride was great in his role.

I hated this movie so much. Not funny or exciting and the main characters constantly made horrible decisions. This is one of the worst movies over ever seen and Cassie constantly angered me with her stupid choice.

I think you have to understand the 2009 housing crisis in Arizona specifically to like the movie. I think people find the situation implausible or not a good catalyst so it ruins the movie for them. As someone who lived through it, I believe this movie is actually a conglomeration of true stories during that period in Arizona specifically (Blanco/Cranston, Michael Brian Miller). A lot of dumb horrible things happened in AZ at this time...well all the time really. Everyone's life is a mess, everyone is divorced, everyone has lost tons of money, no one can pay their overpriced mortgage. I like that Danny McBride is an idiot with no plan, he's just a bro man-child with a bunch of guns and a failed business who just makes bad decisions that get worse and worse. I like that the movie is sloppy, I like that everyone is incompetent, I like that everything is unceremonious and cumbersome. The only thing I did not like was the ending. The last 20 minutes of the movie should have gone differently.

This film got serious fast. Danny McBride is an amazing actor. He was unhinged in this film. Although, due to who the actors were in this film you expect a comedy, it definitely was not. I do like that the actors you'd find in comedies end up being in situations where you'd not expect them to be killed off quick. No one had a chance and I liked that. I was surprised with this film because it did not end being what I thought it would be. I'm a fan. Watch it. But leave your expectations at the door. Be open to enjoy the craziness of how quickly an unhinged, bad tempered human can be capable of.

Very bland film. Couldn't watch anymore 45 minutes in. I'm a Danny McBride fan, but this just wasn't good.

Fun, dark, a bit irreverent. If you're looking for flash, this isn't it. Great dialogue, this isn't but. And yet, the whole thing seems to work despite missteps. Tight at 1:23, could probably stand to have another 10 minutes trimmed. The protagonist makes some stupid moves to prolong the movie. And yet, still a fun watch.

Kidnaps? More like a funny home tour to mad dog's messland...

I love Danny McBride and felt compassion for Sonny. It was just a confluence of domino effects that lead him down a dark path in Arizona. This is not a masterpiece but it’s certainly a movie to watch over pizza & beer.

I enjoyed it! Funny at times, good and creepy at others, Danny is on it and the gore plays, it keeps you in the terror. If you start to forget he's the villain, it reminds you he is a killer. Big shout out to sweet dee Caitlyn Olsen for nailing the worst ex-wife!

Fairly mediocre film that mixes comedy and action in a fairly good way (even if there is not much of the second) creating a surreal environment where even the obvious logical holes are well accepted by the viewer as immersed in the atmosphere of senselessness that orbits around the movie

Danny Mcbride's comedic style doesn't fit here. It can't quite decide wether it's a serious thriller or a comedy.

An all star cast. Still a decent film as well.

A good black comedy. Straight to the point never got boring. A movie unlike any you seen where every character can and will be killed.

I feel this movie is a laundry list of missed opportunities mainly due to marketing. This isn’t a horror movie or a suspense film. This a movie that should be watched with friends so that everyone can discuss mistakes. Spoilers ahead. The heavy conveniently teleports in front of the two female protagonists during the final thirty minutes miraculously after sustaining a serious leg injury. At one point a female protagonist removes her shirt to smash a glass window and the proceeds to discard her shirt. This seems to be a good motivation to survival wearing a brazier but saving the shirt might be a better option. This movie is Plan 9 for people in Arizona.

It's an odd yet surprisingly fitting role for McBride to inhabit, but with Arizona's clumsy commentary draped over film the tension feels of that of a hapless madman with very little intent rather than an allegory to the housing financial crisis of 08. The tension nor humor ever exceeds past mild amusement. Arizona perfectly mimics it's pedestrian, suburban landscape in too many ways.

Horrible lame boring movie starring Danny McBride and a brief cameo from dee from its always sunny in Philadelphia. This movie makes no sense. Why was this movie made. No sense at all.

Increasingly nihilistic and pretty much full-on horror movie shit. Enjoyable enough.
