Forget the critic reviews. This movie is a classic and a must see.

A handful of likeable characters played by Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Steve Buscemi, Owen Wilson, and a few others are literally the only thing to like about this otherwise insanely absurd and over-the-top attempt at science fiction. If you require even a degree of plausibility to enjoy a movie, however, then this probably isn't for you.

Just a fun summertime movie featuring plenty of action. Sure, the premise is far fetched and almost laughable at times, but it’s never enough to lose interest in the movie. More than likely because of the acting performances and wide variety of interesting, likeable characters.

One cliché after another. Boring.

It holds up for 30 years old.

Watch Deep Impact instead.

One of the most entertaining and delightfully memorable films of our lifetime. This is the ONE exception to Michael Bay films. Unlike every other thing Michael Bay’s ruined, Armageddon has incredible music giving you goosebumps throughout, digestable explanations, A+ effects, and an intangible sense of wonder and suspense. The reason critica hated it, is because the dialogue isn’t conventional to what epics were back then, and Bay at the time was loathed by several insustry blue bloods. Rest assured Armageddon’s a masterpiece

Film moved at snails pace. Terrible script. Most likely missles would have been launched at the asteroid, rather then manned space flight. Written for Bruce Willis to be the 1990s super hero. I wanted to like this movie more.

One of my all-time favorite movies. I saw this in the theater when it was released multiple times. The definition of a summer blockbuster which did not disappoint. It didn't feel like 2hr and 30min. It was a fun and enjoyable experience.

With Michael Bay's talent for action sequences, Armageddon flourishes on the big screen. However, its weak handling of dramatic scenes and excessive use of commercial elements result in a film that boasts a dazzling exterior but lacks the substance to withstand the test of time.

It's probably Michael Bay's best movie. But to be fair, that bar is exceptionally low. So low that even his best film cannot possibly be good.

Why do the "critics" hate this so much? Oh because it's not realistic. My gosh, it's a MOVIE not based on true events. It's fun, and the cast is awesome in this flick. Critics are a little too human.

I may disagree with some of the scientific theories in the movie, but this was when storytelling was prioritized as well as razzle and dazzle.

Jesus, who wrote this script? *a few moments later* J.J. Abrams? Checks out. 2h30.....really? I'm not even gonna waste time dissecting this bloated monstrosity other than to say Affleck was so annoying just doing his Affleck thing he was doing in Good Will Hunting IT'S THE SAME CHARACTER (Chuckie Sullivan who, wild guess is of Irish origin) so Willis (Harry Stamper) spends most of the runtime saying Chuckie is not good enough for his princess to marry blah blah standard cliche hack writing then at the end he, of course, sacrifices himself for Chuckie saying "You go take care of my little girl now. That's your job. Always thought of you as a son. Always." What, even when you were shooting at him with a shotgun for finding out he's dating your daughter? The only surprise here is that the character is not called Harry Mcfly or Harry O' Malley given that EVERY white character in American films has to be either Scots-Irish (or Italian) Anyway, this film sucks the big one and maybe it has some "nostalgia" for you but it's objectively terrible. F*ck Michael Bay and f*ck J.J. Abrams...absolute hack frauds. That being said....I spent most of the film just laughing AT it...which was, in its way, quite entertaining for me.

Armageddon might not be a science lesson, but man, is it a good time! Bruce Willis leads a team of misfit oil drillers sent to save Earth from a giant asteroid, and yeah, almost none of it is scientifically accurate, but honestly, who cares? This movie is packed with action, laughs, and just the right amount of emotional moments to keep you hooked from start to finish. The characters are great, each bringing their own quirky energy, and the mix of humor and tension works really well. The whole movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, and even if you know it’s not realistic, you’re still rooting for these guys. By the end, it actually hits you in the feels too. Overall, Armageddon is a fantastic watch. If you’re looking for a fun, thrilling ride and don’t mind leaving real-world logic at the door, this is a movie you’ll love.

I first saw this movie when it came out in 1998 when I was about 15 and didn’t really like it as it has a long running time. I’ve always been a Bruce Willis fan so I gave it another watch recently and really liked it. Armageddon is a summer blockbuster with big names in it. Also joining Willis is Ben Affleck, liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Steve buscemi and billy bob thorton just to name a few. This is a good fun popcorn film and if you’re anything like me you will shed a tear or 2.

What a piece of garbage. Straight from the stereotype hero industry of America. The world is in peril (see the first shot of the people of the world writhing in agony with dark clouds looming). But fear not, there is good old Bruce Willis, drilling expert (and obviously trained astronaut) who has all the skills to (drive on top of and) navigate a frigging comet, jump at will in between to place the nuclear device exactly where it does the most damage and die a hero. And look, the people of the world kneeling on the ground, praying for salvation, see the sun rise once more, all because of Brucy's sacrifice. For Christ's sake!

Deep Impact was better.
