Atonement Reviews
Sumptuous, breathtakingly beautiful, sophisticated. Amazing and capable cast in glorious characters. Elaborate and exquisite production, dreamy cinematography and fascinating storyline. Riveting and engaging. Cleverly written and intelligent throughout. A joy to watch
If you enjoy yearning, heartbreak, and crying into your pillow at 2 AM, Atonement is the film for you. It lures you in with dreamy cinematography, a hauntingly beautiful score, and James McAvoy being unfairly attractive—then it emotionally wrecks you. Just when you think love might win, the movie whispers, “Lol, no.” By the end, you’ll be staring at the screen, tear-streaked and questioning life, while Dario Marianelli’s score plays over the sound of your sobs. A masterpiece in pain. 10/10 would ruin my evening with it again.
Slow and even slower. Artistic but not interesting enough.
Boring portrayal of an upper class England that was.
Heartbreaking, haunting, beautiful, sad, with incredible performances from James McAvoy, Keira Knightley, Saoirse Ronan and more and the somptuous work of Joe Wright behind the camera, a once in a lifetime type of movie.
Atonement rips my heart out every time that I watch.
A movie that I think about often, even years after first watching! A favourite and always recommended to others. Whilst overall a sad movie, sometimes you need a movie to have a good cry and this is it. Beautifully written, thought provoking and beautifully cast. Always love a movie with an ending I didn’t see coming.
Perfeito, surpreendente, emocionante.
The way they play everything the screenplay and the Base was never moved it started it ends everything was so pointy. The shocked that we see in the end was too touchy
It was one of my favourite movies I've ever seen. Haunting and beautiful and just shows you what one lie can do to a vast number of people, places and things.
The cinematography is excellent, but overall, just depressing....not a book I would want to read.
Really kicks off great and has wonderful direction. Loses a lot of its steam for me in the middle Robbie war sequences (except the incredible Dunkirk scene).
Brutal. A great cast and a story that is just told in the most heart-wrenching way possible.
just watched this and i am not okay. when i started i expected to hate it but i most definitely did not. i hated a 13 year old girl the whole movie but could also defend her and it made me feel things. the end destroyed me and i am still sobbing. shaking.
Absolutely superb! A real tear jerker.
A gut-wrenching experience. This movie makes me hate a 13 years old girl.
Movie wrecked me. So well done
The most beautiful movie I ever seen. The sad story is told in a poem way. The best word to describe all my feelings to this movie is beautiful. The love, betray, regret and entanglement is so beautiful and real to me. It's dark and cruel for the two loving people but it's filmed with deep love inside the story.
The beauty of this film is timeless. Perfectly captures the love between these two who can’t be together. It shows how one mistake can make all the difference. One of the best films of its time
