Overall questionable focus between the flawed editing, performative participation and conceptual implausibility only serving as its hooking gimmick, this medical thriller is quite affective through its twisted layered deliverance to an empathetic extent of vulnerable discomfort. (B-)

Stay away from any sort of plot details about this movie! I had no idea of what I was getting myself into, aside from hearing it's actually a solid movie. Which it is. There are a lot of surprises in this movie, and I absolutely love those choices. Some people might be turned off by how crazy things get, and I acknowledge that there are moments in this movie that are way to dramatized and over the top, to the point that it doesn't feel natural. But I loved how insane this plot gets. Akin to a Shyamalan movie. And I actually felt and cared for the characters in this movie. As a thriller, and a drama. Awake successfully pulls out the right emotions you want to feel when watching a movie like this. Thank you.

I really liked the premise. The acting was good and I appreciated the fresh feel of the movie. Definitely recommend.

The implausible stacked on top of the unbelievable, told by a script that is untenable. Christensen and Alba are predictably eye-candy beautiful in wardrobe that looks more like a Christmas Macy's catalogue. The premise was thin before the bad screenplay and storyboard. Without revealing plot, just know that the supposed excruciating pain cannot happen without triggering bodily symptoms, so that whole segment just doesn't work any better than Wile E. Coyote physics. Then, add to that the never-happened conspiracy of no less than five placed cohorts in a murder-for-hire plot in a setting that is completely scrutinized by others. Presidential assassinations don't include five people. Finally, the magical instant salvific proxy is just dumb. SOOOO many hoops have to be jumped through that never happen that way. The entire production comes off as some daytime soap opera pitch as a chick flick, with glamorous rich folks and a contrived sympathetic handsome scion who actually a victim, despite his ridiculously privileged life.

I read a brief description of the plot before watching. As soon as he got the notice for his surgery, I knew EXACTLY who was in on it. I was still fairly entertained. It's low budget entertainment. It did what it was supposed to do.
