Bad Company Reviews
Chris Crock as suave? That would take a miracle and would be an Oscar winning performance. How did they get Anthony Hopkins to join this crap? Blackmail, death threats, a whole lot of money?
Anthony Hopkins stars as a CIA agent who must train a wise cracking, street smart ticket scalper, played by Chris Rock, how to act like his twin brother who was also a CIA operative. The only reason to put these two actors together is to make Anthony Hopkins the straight man to Chris Rock’s comedy. The problem is that they only share a couple of scenes that allow for that. The rest of the movie forces the two of them to focus on plot and action. This also never really allows Chris Rock to set up his style of comedy, which needs to be set up. The end of the second act felt like the finale, and the true finale was boring. Skip this movie.
A simple cheesy action movie... nothing more maybe the chemistry between Chris Rock and Anthony Hopkins was good but no I don't want a sequel from this movie...
First of all how the heck did Chris Rock get screen time acting with Anthony Hopkins? That was the first thing that I thought. The casting director did a huge solid. This movie is far rmore entertaining than I thought it would be. This is one of Rock's earlier films, let's keep it real he's not an "actor". If you are looking for something that 's a bit of a thriller and fun this is it. Lots of NYC actors in the flick, it's cool to see them in some of their first flicks..think Kerry Washington, Daniel Sunjata, Gabriel Macht, etc.
Very Funny but very serious!
Nothing really to remember about this movie, but it does provide some solid entertainment for a random Tuesday night at home.

I think Chris Rock has proven without a doubt in this movie that he is an actor par excellence. He deserves an Oscar for his perfomance here. If you can catch my drift. Incidentally, was Anthony Hopkins jobless at the time time of making this movie?
An astoundingly excellent cast is wasted on a egregiously bloated script, and a misuse of Rock, (who is great, but his jokes don’t fit in the script when they’re used). Bad directing, editing sink what could have been a excellent fish out of water thriller. Instead, it’s a lukewarm mess. Still, it’s fun to see Rock and Hopkins together, and Macht in a pre-Suits role. Once the first half is over, too, the film finally gets going. It’s just an awfully boring 45 minutes to get there.
It worked ok because of the leads.
Awful. The character of Chris Rock and Anthony Hopkins just doens't match. Burlesque in black comedy/thriller. Cheese cake on a stake. Couldn't watch to the end, Chris Rock was so irritating.
Well. That was unfortunate. So many great people playing in this film - and even though the action is alright...it's predictable and Hopkins and Rock have literally no chemistry.
June 2018 - Comedy, not serious drama. Chris Rock made me laugh like I haven't in years. Reminds me of the 1st time I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Postage stamps, lolol
Great movie. Not too many fresh ideas, but at least it was executed and made well (high quality, especially at the time). You've really gotta watch it if you like Hopkins or Chris Rock, as both have good solid performances.
This movie is the perfect action comedy thriller. It has the thrilling aspect, not much action, but a lot of decent cat and mouse chase style scenes, and the film has constant corny yet funny one-liners.
Typical for a 2002 movie with the actors of both drama and comedy being the main stars. The movie is an average movie and it is enjoyable to watch even though unbelievable in reality. Anthony Hopkins, an actor who does a good job in the movie, and Chris Rock, another funny actor that does a nice job as well, are what made the movie a watchable movie. While there is a lot of stereotypical scenarios and scenes in the movie there are also atypical plots and storylines that change up the show a little bit. I rate the movie right at a 3-star movie. It's by no means an Academy Award winner but it's also not as cheesy as I first thought it would be. It's not one I would buy for my DVD collection but it is one that's enjoyable to see once.
It wasn't too bad. There should have been focus on comedy instead of being too serious.
