Tipo o homem-Lagarto (inimigo do Homem-Aranha) ou ao estilo da novela Mutantes da Record. Em um Mundo onde tipo esta destruído e todos vivem como MAd Max, Mazer Runner, O Livro de Eli,... Todos passando por necessidades e a sociedade dividida em castas dos sobreviventes, dos maus feitores e aqui um 3º grupo do Dr. Hardy ou Dr. Victor Frankenstain. Onde para criar uma raça mais forte ele começa a mistura o genoma humano com o de animais. Mas para isso ele precisa de jovens adolescentes para criar o soro. E para atrair as famílias para seu complexo ele fornece água, um tesouro valioso para sobrevivência. Mas que esta água batizada com o soro. E temos aqui Ma Dong que quer dizer que tem porradaria. E a sua missão é salvar Sun-na, ela que desconfia de todo aquele complexo e pessoas. Até chegar a descobrir a verdadeira intenções e é capturada para ser a cobaia. Roteiro e enredo o interessante é ter usado mutantes ao invés de zumbis. O filme esta mais para ser trash. Em resumo um filme razoável. Vale apena assistir? Sim para quem curte o estilo. Nota: 7

This South Korean post-apocalyptic film marks Heo Myung-haeng's directorial debut. The film stars Ma Dong-seok, Lee Hee-joon, Lee Jun-young, Roh Jeong-eui, and Ahn Ji-hye. The story revolves around a wasteland hunter (Ma Dong-seok) and his friend, who are forced to work together to rescue a close acquaintance, an 18-year-old young woman and her grandmother, from a militarized apartment where a mad doctor is performing experiments on children in exchange for clean water and shelter. They are also joined by a lady sergeant (Ahn Ji-hye), who left her supervisor when he violated ethics and morals by participating in the crazy doctor's program of child abuse. Some critics criticized the story of this Asian film as too unattainable, as if they make the same astute assessments when giving praise and high scores to superhero Marvel films. The film features an intriguing story that keeps viewers engaged. It offers enjoyable action scenes, particularly fight scenes.

TRASH! Probability, story, acting, and CG are all a mess! It's such a waste to even invest one minute in this movie!😒 And zombie again?! Korean movies keep using zombie stuff to the point where it's so boring😮‍💨. No fresh ideas?

ECHSENMENSCHEN, ES GIBT SIE WIRKLICH Nach einem verheerenden Erdbeben ist die Menschheit am Rande der Existenz. Nach 3 Jahren haben sich die wenigen Überlebenden zu kleinen Gruppen zusammen gerottet. Der brummige Jäger Nam-san versorgt dabei eine solche Gruppe mit Fleisch. Als ein paar Banditen von Nam-san in die Flucht geschlagen wurden, fand er heraus das es in einem Wohnhaus noch klares Wasser gibt. Aus eben jenem Haus sucht eine Lehrerin Familien mit Kindern um eine neue Menschheit aufzubauen. Als Nam-san herausfindet das mit dieser Truppe was nicht stimmt, bleibt dabei kein Stein mehr auf dem anderen. Badland Hunters geht ca. 107 Minuten und ist ab 16 Jahren freigegeben. Wir haben hier eine südkoreanische Action Sci-Fi Streifen mit Haudrauf Granate Don Lee, der als übermächtiger und sprüche klopfender Brummbär die Menschen vor einem verrückten Wissenschaftler rettet. Die Action ist wirklich überzeugend, die Kämpfe sind wuchtig und blutig, gerade zum Finale hin. Die besten Sprüche kommen einfach von Don Lee, besonders in Bezug auf eine Dame die ein Auge auf ihn geworfen hat kugelt man sich vor Lachen. Die Handlung zieht sich leider im mittleren Teil etwas, da wird dann der Plan des Bösewichts erklärt und zeigt wie bescheuert Menschen in der Postapokalypse sein müssen, wenn Eltern auf seinen Quatsch reinfallen. Das Finale ist dann eine Orgie aus Gewalt, Ballerei und der Beginn einer Romanze, ok das letzte eher nicht. Am Ende bleibt ein spaßiger Endzeit Streifen der mit guter Action, einem klasse Hauptdarsteller und mal mehr mal weniger guten CGI überzeugen kann. Einzig die schwachen Nebenfiguren, der Hänger in der Mitte und der klischeehafte Bösewicht trüben die Freude. Von mir bekommt der Film 7/10 Punkten. Mit solchen Sprüchen die Don Lee hier bekommt macht er seinen Ruf als koreanischer Bud Spencer alle Ehre.

Lots of good fight action. The plot is pretty twisted. I liked it.

Crazy, over the top gore fest.

Action star Don Lee lives up to his reputation -- he shows another level of rough, strong action regardless of where he finds himself – a ruined stadium, a landfill, a dungeon, an apartment and more. Just like in his previous crime action flicks, Lee's very iconic action punch is upgraded, this time with a machete, ruthlessly cutting off the arms of soldiers flooding toward him. In contrast to the awesome action, the plot of "Badland Hunters" veers toward plain and dull. The lack of explanation as to why Nam-san, Ji-wan and Soo-na have a familial bond makes it difficult for the audience to immerse themselves into the story as the three risk their lives for one another. That also leaves a question mark on what led to the crazy Dr. Yang's obsession and love toward his daughter -- and why he became a villain.

A Fresh Take on the Post-Apocalyptic Genre I've always had a soft spot for post-apocalyptic films, and Netflix's 2024 release, "Hunters in Barren Lands," did not disappoint. Venturing into it with little expectation, I was captivated by the premise of an earthquake devastating Korea and the ensuing fate of its survivors. Unexpectedly, the plot thickens around a doctor and his mysterious vaccine for immortality, capable of resurrecting the dead. This film cleverly combines post-apocalyptic and zombie elements, not in the form of a widespread zombie invasion, but as a localized outbreak with a clear beginning and end. It delivers exactly what audiences crave: an exploration of human immorality amid an existential crisis, the scarcity alongside community solidarity, and a generous dose of action. While some plot twists were predictable, others brought a refreshing originality. The protagonist, labeled a "half-gorilla" due to his superhuman strength, clarifies any mutation theories—he's simply an exceptionally strong human. The gang confrontations, reminiscent of video games like "Borderlands" or "Lisa," or even a Korean "Mad Max," reveal the extremes of society: from outright villains to sheep when exposed. For those in search of a post-apocalyptic film to enjoy in a morning/afternoon/night, this movie hits the mark. Although it ignites the desire for more exploration of such desolate worlds, the story is decidedly finite, offering just a glimpse into this universe, with a sorrowful start and a potentially happy ending. It leaves one curious about the characters' futures but wraps up their story conclusively, making it a brief tale of the moment. While a sequel or spin-off to "Hunters in Barren Lands" seems unlikely, the concept remains enticing.

I loved the execution for the continued storyline, the thrill, the action, and the turn of events that made it so vulnerable for everyone just to stay alive.

A mixed post-apocalyptic film with a setting inspired by Mad Max and a plot inspired by Resident Evil. The story isn't particularly good and drags a bit in the first half, but it picks up in the second half with plenty of fast, bloody and brutal action. The setting looks good, the characters and their backstories are ok and the light humour fits in well, but it's uneven with some plot points barely explored.

Ma Dong-seok, enough said.

I watched this no more than five days ago, and don't remember a thing, so it must not have been very good, but I don't recall being bored. I would remember that.

Ma Dong-Seok is one of the coolest dudes in Korean cinema. I do think the film is a little disappointing as the post-apocalyptic setting isn't used in an exciting way. The plot is also nothing special. It is incredibly dumb and predictable while also having minimal explanation about anything. The characters are also very bland. There is barely any exploration of any of the characters including the main character. Due to this, they all come off as one-dimensional and this makes it very difficult to care about anyone. However, it has some incredibly well-choreographed and fun action sequences. Who doesn't want to see Ma Dong-seok kick ass!

Beyond being set in South Korea rather than the usual USA there is basically nothing to draw you into the world of Badland Hunters. Like its American counterparts it takes place in a colourless, bland, empty world that fails to do anything that different with its premise or locale. Characters are banal at best and the story offers nothing interesting or exciting apart from a single well-shot action shot towards the end. The only thing to really draw you to the film is Ma Dong-seok and he's so underutilised as just "the tough guy" without any of the depth we've seen in his other performances the he can't save this film from being what it is: a poor, if semi-competent, Poundland apocalypse film.

Worth the time even if it is kind of predictabel

I really enjoyed it. Interesting. Watchable. Nothing special. But still really good.

Great action fast paced and to the point, definitely a diamond in the rough of modern action movies

It's a feel good action movie with cinematic moments. This movie plays on ethos a lot and has a nice scientifc dark twist. The characters are all memorable and you can bond to them equally. Although they don't have the deepest storyline or background, there's clear progression and emotionally thrilling moments. Even the doctor can bw empathized with in a way, and this makes for a good emotionally catching story. It had a very satisfying ending. I also liked the very well timed and good natured comedic reliefs throughout the film. Everyone needs a Nam-san in their life!

A Chinese-American look at families. The Chinese have an identification as a member of a family, not as much emphasis as the west's individualism. This film is an excellent down-to-earth drama.
