Battle: Los Angeles Reviews

Mar 31, 2025

Really liked this. A simple sci-fi action movie that has everything you need and nothing you don't.

This is more war genre than sci fi, & too long.

Well, a few of the performances were really wellacted, especially Eckhart but the movie basically is every cliche you'd ever seen in just about any war movie. Also, they show very little of the aliens, I suppose as CGI and props would've cut into the profit. I don't plan on adding it to my collection but it isn't necessarily a bad movie- just not memorable in any way. Cinema nerds will hate it/ dumb people will think it's amazing- simple as that.

Battle: Los Angeles is the kind of movie that restores my faith in Hollywood’s ability to create action films that actually grip you from start to finish. It’s exciting, immersive, and unapologetically entertaining—a film that knows exactly what it wants to be and delivers on that promise. Watching it on blu-ray on an 85” 온라인카지노추천, in filmmaker mode, with a 7.1.2 DTS audio mix, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. The discrete sound channels and height effects didn’t just complement the movie—they were essential, pulling me right into the chaos of alien warfare. If you’re watching this on a small screen or without proper sound, you’re missing the full experience, and I can’t help but wonder if that’s exactly what happened to the critics. Speaking of critics, it’s baffling how out of touch they can be. Their reviews were mixed to negative, but audience reactions tell a completely different story. It’s like the critics were watching a different movie, perhaps on their phones or 15” laptop screens. The truth is, for the most part, audiences loved Battle: Los Angeles, and for good reason. This isn’t a film for dissecting themes or overanalyzing character arcs—it’s a visceral, high-octane thrill ride, and it excels at that. Sure, the movie leans on some war movie clichés, but those clichés feel right for the genre. They ground the film in a familiar structure, making the story both relatable and engaging. The attention to detail is phenomenal, from the incredible special effects to the practical sets. The filmmakers even went as far as shipping palm trees to New Orleans to convincingly recreate Los Angeles—talk about commitment to the craft. Aaron Eckhart leads the cast with an intensity that holds the movie together, delivering a performance that feels raw and authentic. The entire cast went through weeks of military training, and it shows in their physicality and teamwork on screen. This is a group of actors who worked hard to entertain us, and their effort pays off. Battle: Los Angeles grabs you and doesn’t let go. It’s a thrilling, immersive experience that critics couldn’t see for what it was because they’ve become too lost in their own self-importance. Forget the critics—ask your friends, your peers, or anyone who loves a good action movie. They’ll tell you the truth: this movie delivers, and it does so spectacularly.

Nonstop heart pounding action. Yes cliched. So what? It entertains, with emotional moments. I watch it whenever I can.

I've watched this movie almost every time it shows up on television. I'm currently (12-3-24) watching it again on the Syfy channel. I always loved Aaron Exkhardt as an actor and his acting in this was very realistic as a soldier reluctantly going back into battle and resuming leadership of a squadron. The strong acting of the entire cast was good as well. Very intense movie.

Absolutely awesome action movie with an ending leaving you wanting more. The critics are so wrong, this movie deserves way more of a score.

Very good movie, Darstellung und Inhalt sind sehr gut in Szene gesetzt. Verstehe nicht warum er so viele schlechte Rezensionen bekommt, aber Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Trotzdem meiner Meinung sehr gut der Film.

Great flick. Stands up to test of time. It’s an out sacrifice and heroes at a time we need them. Great job!

Don't listen to the dim witted *top critic's*. And their small minded reviews. Battle Los Angeles, is a brilliant movie. Especially in 2024. If you want something great to watch you found it.

I absolutely LOVE this movie. It is exactly what I picture that IF this ever ACTUALLY happens, Will look like. Aaron Eckhart is bad-ass. The effects are great and the action and sounds are top-notch. I turn on the surround sound system and turn up my subwoofer and FEEL this movie. exciting from start to finish. All the critics that panned this movie should all stick their heads in a bucket of ice water.

Not as bad as other people say, in my opinion. It’s not great either, however.

Jun 14, 2024

The effects and performances are all solid, but cliched direction and writing make Battle: LA a generic PG-13 action movie that should've either been a hard-R war film or leaned heavier into campiness.

I think it helps that you knew the reviews were bad. So going in with low expectations helps this movie. It wasn't bad. I actually thought the scenario felt kind of real in terms of the scope of the mission, how to attack, and what they figured out. I didn't see this as all that far fetched. The jingo-istic, rah rah military stuff, may have been a little over the top, but I know guys who are like that. They felt real to me. There are better movies out there, but this is a decent time waster.

Any aliens invade movie is bound to strain credibility, and this one is no exception. What placed this one a few notches higher for me was the street action and first person viewpoints the characters give us. We don't get an overall look at everything unless the characters glimpse it on a tv or something while accomplishing their goals. Most of the action is sudden and up close, and at least well plotted out compared to a lot of gun battle films. Each of the soldiers has their own personality and issues, and bring their traumas to the screen without beating us up with them or some universal message, and none of it gets in the path of the pacing and story.

I have seen this movie twice. Initially I saw it when it first came out on the wide screen. I was immediately hooked when the Marine squad is sent to W.L.A. and Santa Monica. They are assigned to areas of Pico Blvd., Olympic Blvd. etc. I have walked those streets. The morning marine layer mist is evident as they traverse the area. Plus I am infuriated aliens would dare invade my homeland. Some years later I saw it again. At such time my grandson is serving as a Marine. I recall reading a study manual he read regarding the confusion, noise and chaos of actual combat. This movie seems to accurately portray combat and the valiant response of Marines in such situations. Never do the outnumbered Marines fail to respond to crises after crises. In one scene the old Marine quote "Retreat, hell we just go here" is repeated. Although frightened and fighting an alien opponent they continue with the battle tactics they have learned. To add realism, the aliens also have precise battle tactics. They use ambush techniques, mobile artillery and air support. Some have criticized the film as failing to be a true science fiction movie. They missed the boat. This is a war/combat movie. It is a realistic portrayal of combat regardless of who the enemy is.

Satisfied my military action craving like very little else could have, I'd watch this as a television show or a seven movie series any time.
