Be Kind Rewind Reviews
I am sorry but I am not a fan of this movie because the story is s simple and so small its worth only 30 min run time, but its spread to an 1 and 30 minutes......
Unwatchable. Cringey-bad unfunny. Turned this one off.
I was partially sweeded but not that hype
This movie has heart, and is certainly adorable, but it is not a good film. The central premise is great, but what's done with it really isn't all that funny, and most of the other jokes don't land any better either. Every character seems odd and unrealistic, but not in a fun way, and although Black and Glover turn in great performances, there's only so much you can do as an actor. What this movie really needed was a second writer to tie it together and make for more actually funny - and not just kind of odd - moments.
Loved how it acted as a love letter to cinema too I freaking loved Melonie Diaz too, she’s a girl aspiring to be an actress herself and lives her chance to be part of this duo It’s not the effects or production values that make a movie but rather the heart that goes into it, the soul that grows within it, and the joy that comes out of it This promotes the potential of the medium and the goodness that can come from it, the sense of togetherness, of community, of a shared passion for something that's not about look and professionalism and perfection but rather honesty, integrity, and sincerity, ideas that transcend cinema and seem appropriate for the greater thing called life
A nice little silly movie that fans of 80’s films may enjoy.
Honestly this movie is a wholesome little gem. It's funny, the characters are charming and the story, while simple, is surprisingly engaging.
It's a joyful and great movie about filmmaking and movies in general and Michel Gondry (Kidding, Flight of the Conchords) brings his amazing vision to life
We've seen Jack Black take center stage in a type of high street outlet that has died a death before. That was the wonderful High Fidelity (2000) where he plays a role (sales assistant in a record store) that was almost a little too close for home for me when I thought about I how might behave if I was in that job. The difference in Be Kind Rewind is that although he frequently takes center stage in Mr. Fletcher's (Danny Glover) video rental store he doesn't work there. And, the other difference I hate to add; is that vinyl made a major high street comeback. Video rental is no more, and painfully, horribly, shockingly, I have to admit, will be making no comeback. Black is Jerry, a useless tin foil hate wearing loser who attempts to break into a local electrical substation to do it damage but only manages to electrocute himself, and as a result, wipes the contents of every VHS in Mr. Fletcher's store. Fletcher is away at the time, leaving Mike (Mos Def) in charge. The first third of the film is messy and patchy, not really giving us enough to attach ourselves to the characters, but when Mike and Jerry decide to start refilming all the wiped titles themselves, things pick up dramatically. Be Kind Rewind's premise is ludicrous, but the longer it goes on, the more you start to enjoy yourself. This is a film that cares about film, even if its protagonists don't, and to achieve the desire of you caring for its idiot characters is impressive. This is no masterpiece, and it's no High Fidelity, but its heart is in the right place.
A sweet, hilarious, wildly creative comedy. Everything I could want out of Jack Black and more. 9/10

Be Kind Rewind fondly reminicence on the golden age of movie rental, and what makes the most iconic of movies so cherished by us all...heart and character. With incredibly creative ways in recreating scenes from beloved classics and a kids movie for adults tonality, Micheal Gondry manages a contagiously fun and feel good gem that reminds us to remember our history and not to lose sight and what truly matters without a smidgen of pretention.
An underrated and forgotten film that has a great cast, a wonderful story, and is basically a movie for people that love movies.
Started out as a joke that then turned hilariously pitiful in a long duration that sold the film until it unexpectedly shot something wholesomely sweet when it appreciates what film is, especially the home medium, and how the evolving art form continues to inspire others onto an extension of bringing the community together. (B+)
Be Kind Rewind is a great comedy movie and it's got such a brilliant story. The story is about these two lads who are called Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def). They both work in this video store and they accidentally end up wiping out every single tape in the store. However, they want to keep the video store business going so they decide to record their own footage for the movie's they end up accidentally wiping out. The acting from all of the cast is actually great and their performances don't feel weak in any sort of way. The dialogue which is given from the characters throughout this movie is decent but it's mainly strong from Mr. Fletcher (Danny Glover). Also, the humour works really well throughout this movie and it doesn't fail in making me laugh. The pacing for certain build ups throughout this movie is actually pretty good and most of the scenes are built up very well. Finally, there's some great emotions for these characters, which are built up very well and add to their characters. Overall, Be Kind Rewind is a great comedy movie. It's got a brilliant story, great acting, decent dialogue, brilliant humour, pretty good pacing and some great emotions.
I don't understand why folks don't adore this film. It is incredibly well-written, the cinematography is phenomenal and the acting is right there with the best of them. The story has the perfect mix of comedy and drama all without shoving a useless romance down your throat. Just a really well done film. It's an under the radar community movie that makes you feel good with nostalgia and it will leave you feeling impressed. Being from New Jersey myself, they really nailed the vibe.
It was definitely watchable and goofy . At the same time it’s a little unbelievable and childish . 2.3
WTF did I just watch . One of the stupidest movies ever made my god why would anyone waste money and time to make this Stupid movie
A searing indictment of how intellectual property law stifles creativity in an era of capitalist cultural homogenization when every story seems to have already been told and ironic postmodern pastiche seems the last remaining aesthetic, for all its originality and import, the characters are thin and the comedy lightweight.
