Yellow Submarine Reviews

Apr 9, 2025

I don't think anyone realizes how influential, intelligent, funny, and successful The Beatles were. Besides making music, these guys created movies, went on many tours, released albums, and built a large fanbase that still listens to their music today. Speaking of cinema, this movie is beautifully made, funny, catchy, and influential. It's a film that people of all ages can enjoy. Its vibrant colors are enough to brighten the world, showcasing the creativity that went into this film.

Yellow Submarine (also known as The Beatles: Yellow Submarine) is a 1968 animated jukebox musical fantasy adventure comedy film inspired by the music of the Beatles, directed by animation producer George Dunning, and produced by United Artists and King Features Syndicate. Initial press reports stated that the Beatles themselves would provide their own character voices.[6] However, apart from composing and performing the songs, the real Beatles' only participation was in the closing scene of the film; the voices of their animated counterparts were provided by voice actors.

Yellow Submarine is one of the trippyest movies I have ever seen. The animation style is incredibly crazy and utterly psychedelic. This movie also has some great moments of subtle humor. The Beatles music adds to the style, with some of the Fab Four's greatest hits getting immortalized in great montages. Yellow Submarine is a great trip and a solid movie.

If I hadn't watched Yellow Submarine so many times as a kid, I don't think I'd enjoy it that much as an adult. When I was a kid, I liked the animation and the music, so the nonsensical storyline and absurd dialogue didn't matter. I still like The Beatles, and I appreciate the unique design & feel, but I notice the filmmaking flaws more now. This movie is undeniably bizarre and, as a person who's never done LSD, it doesn't make a lot of sense. However, it is buoyed up in my heart by a strong sense of nostalgia and a great soundtrack. It's not the best Beatles film, but it's not the worst, either.

Unique, Bizarre and well animated with a killer soundtrack. Monty Python need a feature just for the animation and we got it. The Beatles are quirky and funny as always and the blue meanies well there mean. Have a glass of wine a lose a bit of your mind.

"It's all in the mind." George Harrison's psychedelic trip in Yellow Submarine is one of the coolest character introductions you'll ever see. The Beatles are such a iconic piece of 20th century pop culture that it's hard to take a step back and actually look at them, peeling back the layers of critical acclaim, popular adoration, personal drama, and copious mythology that's sprung up around the group. In that way, Yellow Submarine was something that just sort of existed as part of the Beatles universe in my mind, a tiny chapter in a very heavy book for a group that was only really together for about seven years. But going back and actually watching this film will make you realize that it's got much more to it than just the name of a famous band; Yellow Submarine is an absolute trip of an animated movie, charming and humorous as a quartet of practically monotone Liverpudlians embark on a surreal journey through fantastical lands, quipping all the while. It's still an entertaining and unique experience with visuals that look like a collaboration between Salvador Dalí and Monty Python, but it's also an important film historically, demonstrating that there was much more to animation than what had been done before, and that adults could appreciate it. Hilarious that the voice actor doing George's dialogue had to be replaced partly halfway through because he was an actively-sought deserter from the British military. (3.5/5)

A wonderful blend of dry jokes, surreal animation and catchy songs. The film came out more than half a century ago, but it still holds you in its grip.

I saw this movie on 온라인카지노추천 as a child. It actually wasn't that much weirder than many other cartoons from that era. Later in life, I would see "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night", the live-action Beatles movies. Both were romps with interruptions for scenes where the Beatles would perform their various songs. None of them were deeply meaningful-or purported to be. They were like extended versions of "The Monkees" television shows. So what makes "Yellow Submarine" different? Mainly, the animation and the fantasy elements and pictures that could not be placed in their live-action movies. They appear in the flesh briefly in the end, and one of them comments, "That was a nice little party." I'm certainly nobody intended for this to be anything else.

Having Beatles songs is take it or leave it, but the animation and humor is just perfect.

It may have worked in 1968, when the animation was original, but you can only get through it these days if you are interested in the historical placement of it. The puns are bad, the voice acting is unintelligible sometimes, the timing is bad. There is no plot, and the annoyance level gets higher as the story goes on. I can't see any kid these days sitting through it, so I wouldn't consider it family fare. I can appreciate the animation creativity.
